"1 in 4 individuals have a #sensory need or an #invisible disability, These are individuals with PTSD, Autism, Dementia, Strokes just to name a few" Hyatt Hotels Corporation partnered with KultureCity to help understand #neurodivergent #traveler needs. The article goes on to share how to create #stressfree hotel stays start at research and booking stage and how on-property #accommodations and #amenities make a difference. I'd be curious to know how many on-property associates feel #trained properly, even if they had the information on a hotel guest profile? What a great article about neurodiversity and how we can understand better the different needs of a traveller. Very insightful.
Top of The Business Travel Magazine's ‘Most Read’ articles, TripStax CTO Scott Wylie last month shared his neurodiversity and ADHD diagnosis. It inspired many to reach out both via TBTM and also directly. 15-20% of people are neurodiverse, and share many wonderful abilities beyond the neurotypical. Scott sheds some light on some things we should be mindful of to create the right environment where we can all flourish... https://lnkd.in/et6wzvqD

It's possible to combine self-care, family time and "work" time into one activity. Yesterday's family adventure was jog/walking the City2Surf. It was also my self-care for the week: - physical activity for 3 hours - deeper conversations with my wife about life - being grateful and appreciating what's around By being curious, it was also an opportunity for professional development as a physiotherapist. There were people with obvious mobility problems who participated in the event. Regardless of this, they were able to cover a distance of 14kms. I got to see how: - People made use of different assistive technologies. - Mobilised in their own unique ways. - Transformed encouragement from others into fuel. Seeing people who face adversity celebrate at the finish line has left me: - optimistic - excited - open to what did not seem possible (Photo: my daughter celebrating crossing the finish line after sleeping in the pram 90% of the time) _______ How to achieve "work-life balance": Make work something that you are passionate about and something you would do anyway, without needing to get paid. #physiotherapy #capacitybuilding #ndis

Latest story: Hotels Are Finally Catering to Neurodivergent Travelers. >>Some 78% of families affected by autism say they entirely avoid traveling because the industry does so little to meet their needs. Hotels are starting to find solutions. . https://lnkd.in/emp4f4ja . An important topic that impacts millions of people—who want to travel but don't for fear their neurodivergent family won't be welcomed, or who do go on vacations away from home but encounter challenges at hotels and resorts. I learned a lot in the process and I hope readers do as well, including the industry. 💫The good news: More hotels are getting autism-certified, training staff on neurodivergence and introducing amenities to better serve neurodivergent families and travelers. 💫The not so good news: Many more could do better--- as detailed in my story--so why don't they? Thanks to the valiant moms and experts who shared their experiences traveling with or working with children who have either ADHD or autism, with valuable input on how hotels can do better. . https://lnkd.in/emp4f4ja #travelandtourism #dei #neurodivergence #autism #adhd

In a world often dominated by concrete walls and digital screens, reconnecting with nature offers such a profound opportunity for growth, transformation, and healing. Outdoor therapy isn't just about hiking trails or braving the elements; it's about meeting clients where they are, both physically and emotionally. A leisurely stroll along the water or hearing the birds while relaxing on a park bench. It's happened to you, right? Taking in the sight and sound of beach waves, a leisurely hike to see a local waterfall, or a quiet spot in the woods where you take a moment to sit - then the energy shifts, and you can't quite explain why. I recently came across this insightful article shedding light on the growing trend of outdoor therapy, and I'm inspired. Read this article, then I'd love to hear what you think! Have you experienced outdoor sessions with clients? I have a good feeling this technique will continue to grow and be beneficial for so many. #InternalFamilySystems #NatureTherapy #Therapist
