For this reason, I thought it would be wise to refresh this to provide some insight about LIFT Puerto Rico and specifically what LIFT (www.lift.technology) is doing to drive advanced manufacturing within Puerto Rico. This is, of course, in addition to supporting education and workforce development for advanced manufacturing careers in Puerto Rico, through Operation Next and other partnerships and programming. An exciting prospect for the industrial element of the autonomy sector but…. * will America be able to force generate the personnel required to operate the systems safely and effectively…or the infrastructure it requires? * will rapid production squeeze proper test and evaluation requirements leading to unsafe equipment or risk operational failure? * will the network required to effectively deploy the systems hold up to the increase in demand? * will security protocols and software be developed at the same rapid pace as the physical systems ensuring they are protected against cyber vulnerabilities. This is an interesting and exciting opportunity, with the probability for accelerating the development of autonomous sytems, but there are a number of considerations that can’t be ignored when rolling out such an ambitious programme. #autonomy #autonomoussytems #militarytechnology

[Hanwha Aerospace conducts spinoff to focus on defense industry] Hanwha Aerospace, the defense arm of South Korea’s seventh-largest conglomerate 한화 Group, said Friday it will segregate its non-military businesses into a newly established corporation, aiming to focus on its defense business operations. According to Hanwha Aerospace’s announcement Friday, Hanwha Aerospace will spin off a new entity, tentatively named Hanwha Industrial Solutions. This new corporation will take over Hanwha Vision, specializing in artificial intelligence solutions, and Hanwha Precision Machinery, focusing on semiconductor equipment -- both of which were previously part of Hanwha Aerospace. Hanwha Group, the parent company, will retain a 33.95 percent stake in both Hanwha Aerospace and the newly formed corporation. The decision to separate the businesses was made to address shortcomings in terms of fast, professional decision-making due to differences in business strategies between defense businesses and other sectors, as explained by the group.
