The fundamental commitment of BAIR's project partners is to achieve social inclusion of the Roma community in Bitola. Throughout the activities of the project, the process of inclusion is evident. It was realized through interactions of the Roma community with the municipal administration, collaborators from the private sector and national and international experts. But social inclusion is a process, which cannot be measured quantitatively, and it happens on a horizontal and vertical level. At the same time, it means access to education, health, employment and housing. Within the framework of the BAIR project, in the past 38 months, 26 households have been renovated and in cooperation with the Municipality of Bitola, 45 objects have been legalized. At this moment, the preparation of 3 detailed urban plans for the settlement of Bair with a coverage of 30 hectares is being finalized. But this is not enough, because the challenges and obligations still continue. For adequate housing, it is necessary to legalize the households (with control of the construction and the quality of the material used), by ensuring stable and safe buildings and overcoming the structural problems. To solve the problem of substandard housing as an urban phenomenon with serious implications in the formal system of urban planning and complex socio-economic relations. At the same time, to create a framework of action adapted to the heterogeneity of Roma settlements. Ultimately, to successfully address and resolve issues of social inclusion and housing, it is imperative to apply a collaborative approach to the parties involved, which means shared responsibility, accountability, resources, control and risk with the goal of shared rewards and successes. #togetherforsocialinclusion #paneldiscussion #panelist #awarenesscampaign

It still hasn’t fully hit me just how incredible last weeks #AEDF11 was. I am very proud of the Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network team, our event managers at Going North Agency and the deadly team Moogie Down Productions for capturing the event! What an amazing and empowering two days on Larrakia country, we had over 650 Blak business and ally’s join us from around the country. We had Linda Burney announce she will be changing be definition of and Aboriginal business to 51% Indigenous owned and controlled. This is a huge win and will go along way to stamp out Blakcladding in the Aboriginal business sector. NTIBN has been leading the advocacy in calling for this change at a national level! The National Indigenous Busines Chambers Alliance took the stage and discussed what the future leadership at a national level will look like. Respecting our Aboriginal protocols and place based approach to national advocacy. NTIBN in partnership Native American Business Association - NABA announced our dedicated NT Indigenous business trade delegation to the US in 2024! There is so much more that was announced/ discussed over the 2 day form for me to announce here. But stay tuned to our socials for more exciting announcements to come. But what was clear from AEDF11 is that the Aboriginal economic development landscape is rapidly changing and the Blak business sector is rising! We are unlocking our mobs economic independence and self determination. We will “Close the Gap” ourselves and not wait for the government to do it for us!
