How to start talking about women, on Women's Day? Simone De Beauvoir said “you are not born a woman but you become one…” They see us as a partner, friend, mother, daughter, romantic, colleague, cheesy, among other roles. For some men, we represent love, support, inspiration, care, companionship or simply a supernumerary. "But we will always be a mother or a prostitute who will not satisfy love but only enjoyment." (S. Freud). Being a woman for some of us is a matter of pride, for others a reason to weave protection networks. Many have been victims of violence, discrimination and invisibility because they are women. They seek to reverse themselves in the collective, to question the traditional concepts where they try to define what it means to be a woman. We find that we are that indefinable thing because we are so complicated. Biology has become obsolete, it can no longer describe us. However, it is not theorized when we are sold for pieces, rented for a time or when we are beaten and murdered for not respecting the will of the one who believes himself to be our master. They force us to cover our faces, wear veils and not follow our will and vocation. In these circumstances everyone knows what a woman is, they know what the patriarchal idea of being a woman is. And they apply it with enthusiasm and rigor. It is curious that for March 8 to be considered Women's Day, when 126 women had to die. Is that why it is celebrated? A purple ribbon was romantically chosen to represent this date. Is it because the color is similar to the bruise, the bruise that I left after the blow? And the ribbon? I leave it to your discretion... Let's continue fighting for a world where all women are valued and respected. 💔💪🏽 Let's open spaces to express ourselves and be heard. 💪🏽🌸Let's be women with a voice.

I recently had the opportunity to attend a workshop at Grace Hopper 2023 with the title "Can I Cry at Work?" Despite my initial hesitation due to the cheesy name, I later discovered that the workshop tackled an important topic: the expectation that women should never show vulnerability in professional settings. The session emphasized the importance of donning our metaphorical armor every day as we navigate the challenges of the workplace. It encouraged women to speak up, resist intimidation, and not succumb to the pressure to conform to louder voices. The message was clear: we must confront our battles head-on, even if it means carrying the weight of our armor, soldiering on, and coming back home exhausted. Now, this notion of armor extends beyond the professional realm; it speaks to the silent struggles many women face every day. From fighting for freedom of expression to advocating for autonomy over their bodies, countless women are engaged in battles every seconds of their lives that often go unrecognized. While social media often highlights the achievements of "successful women" as "role models", it's essential to remember that every woman, regardless of their accomplishments, is fighting their own battles and deserves acknowledgment. As we celebrate/recognize International Women's Day, let's not forget to honor the resilience of ALL women, especially those whose voices have yet to be heard!

I absolutely resonate with Kelly's approach, if only we could hold each other up whether in friendship or in the workspace. I have had some nasty competitiveness in the past and it is good for no one! What has been you experience? YES! When women support other women, we all shine. When you’re alone, you often feel invisible. That’s what I experienced for much of my career. I didn’t have women supporting me as there was such a scarcity of jobs at the top. Look how far we’ve come! Today, women open the door for others. As the saying goes, “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” 🎥 Kelly Rowland

Women’s History Month 2024 starts today and is themed around “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories” A few ways you can honor the women in your network this month are: - Share stories on LinkedIn about the women in your community who make a difference and an impact in their industries to showcase their character and achievements. - Create a heartfelt post that highlights the person's accomplishments, qualities, or the impact they've had on others. - Host a LinkedIn Audio Event or LinkedIn Live dedicated to honoring the person. This could include a panel discussion, Q&A session, or performance featuring individuals sharing stories, memories, and reflections about the honoree. What other ways will you honor those women in your network?

I have to fully agree with Mrs Blanchard here. I would also add to this a quote attributed to another amazing person , Maya Angelou - “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” #selfawareness #personalgrowth #awarenessmatters #beallyoucanbe
March is Women's History Month! No one will be surprised when I say my favorite woman is my wonderful wife of nearly 62 years, Margie Blanchard. Here's a quote she lives by that has helped many people see others in a new light. Think about it!

As we honor the incredible achievements and contributions of women throughout history, let’s also take a moment to acknowledge the everyday superheroes among us. Being a woman often means juggling multiple roles, breaking barriers, and striving for excellence in all we do. But let’s be real - even superwomen get tired. It’s okay to feel the weight of the world on our shoulders sometimes. It’s okay to admit that balancing career, family, and personal aspirations can be exhausting. So here’s to all the superwomen out there: You’re doing an amazing job, even on the days when you feel like you’re running on empty. Remember to give yourself grace, take breaks when needed, and lean on your support system. Together, we continue to pave the way for future generations of strong, empowered women. Let’s celebrate our resilience, and our achievements. To another successful Women’s History Month Reception 💕

As a women-led organization, we know change is possible. Women’s History Month reminds us that women have paved pivotal roads toward equity and justice—the guiding star for our investments. We celebrate our incredible partners making progress for women by giving young people a voice, creating a more inclusive economy, ensuring representative utility leadership, and advocating against harmful policies. Through an intersectional lens, we recognize that keeping one woman down keeps all of us down, when any of us succeeds, we all have a stronger chance at dismantling systems of oppression. Where women lead, communities benefit. Attacks on women – particularly those who intersect with other historically excluded identities – are rampant through so many avenues this year, from bodily autonomy to gender identity, from access to healthcare to the right to vote. This is no time to stop affirming, protecting, and striving for women’s rights. Shout-out to partners like Bianca Van Heydoorn (Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project), Yalda Tehranian-Uhls (Center for Scholars & Storytellers), WaterNow Alliance’s Emerging Leaders, and Awanookwe Veronica Kingbird (Awesiinyag are Loved), and the powerful women here at Spring Point Partners LLC, who are making an impact today in our communities, on our futures. Who’s inspiring YOU this Women’s History Month? #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenEmpowerment #WomenWhoLead #HerStory #IntersectionalFeminist #WomensRights #TransformtheFuture

Reimagining Ambition for Every Woman | Marketing Strategist & Advisor | Contributing Writer for Entrepreneur & Fast Company | Forbes Business Council Member | Speaker
"People hate women, that's why," she wrote. This was in response to the harsh criticism Alicia Keys faced for singing off key on the first note during the Super Bowl performance. The criticism was notably vicious and, interestingly, included women contributing to the thread on social media. Why do we, as a society, often rush to judge women with such harshness? And why do women participate in this cycle of criticism toward one another? The irony is that without women, none of us would exist. Women birth nations, lead innovations, shape futures and inconceivable more. Yet, our contributions are often overshadowed by unrealistic expectations and unforgiving scrutiny. This moment is more than just about a missed note; it's a mirror reflecting the deep-seated issues within our societal perception of women. Why are women held to standards that discount our humanity and achievements? It also reminds me of the solidarity we need to foster as women. Our journey towards equality and respect is already filled with too many challenges, so why are we adding to the issue? It's time for us to celebrate our successes, support each other through failures, and recognize the strength in our collective voice. Even when we're off key. #womenentrepreneurs #womensupportingwomen #womenleadership
