Earlier this week, I was laid off from my Partner Marketing role at Oyster, along with many of my talented colleagues around the world. At some point during my time at Oyster, I found myself googling to learn the specific details about how an Oyster makes a pearl. I like to think I’m not the only Oyster employee who, for one reason or another, found themselves looking this up. ;) When a foreign substance, like a grain of sand, finds its way unexpectedly inside an Oyster, it causes the Oyster discomfort. To cope, the Oyster releases nacre, coating the substance and easing the irritation. As the Oyster continues to release nacre over time, not only does it curb their feelings of discomfort, the substance is transformed into a beautiful, timeless pearl.✨ How a pearl is made is ironically the most fitting analogy that I can offer to my impacted Oyster colleagues, and to myself, during this time: It’s an uncomfortable time right now. Even a bit of a scary one. Having your position eliminated without warning – it’s not something any of us wanted or could have anticipated waking up to on Monday morning. But it’s in these moments of discomfort and uncertainty that we develop behaviours of resilience. Every single one of us will get through this challenging time and find that in doing so, we’ll end up with something beautiful. It's not here yet, but it’s coming our way 💕.

Product Marketing: Amazon | Previous: Marketing @ Google (Search & AI), Led consumer business @ Conde Nast | Seasoned in GTM, Integrated media planning & execution, P&L management & Analytics | Emvies & MMA APAC winner
Came across this campaign today from Britannia Industries Limited for their relatively new product Treat Croissant. While clever, I think it’s a much stronger hook for an ad film, and I hope this is a teaser for a larger brand campaign.🙂 With resources like Google Search readily available to get to the right pronunciation, the value of the ‘pronunciation expert’ seems debatable. What are your thoughts on this? Do share in the comments section. #advertising #marketing #campaigns #socialmedia #

Can you outcompete in a market selling… Water!? 💸🍾📈 Probably both Fiji and Voss are the main, most well known brands that you can find across the world. Not the biggest player, they’re just everywhere. Their prices well multiply the average cost per bottle, and yet they’re capable of generating dozens of millions in revenue. Does they taste better? No. Are they any healthier? Hell No. Then, how they justify their prices? #Marketing is the answer. By using #branding. Delivering Status. Choosing the right Product placement. They are in the right time, in the right place, in the right hands. Next time your think you need a brilliant product to outcompete the market, think on water. You’ll get a lesson or two. 😁
