Attention all US military veterans! The deadline has been extended to Monday, August 14th! The new PACT Act offers vital additional benefits and healthcare, but applications are surprisingly low. In some states, less than 1% of eligible veterans have applied. Let's change that! Even if your claim was previously rejected, reapply now - chances of approval have improved. If you file a claim or submit an intent to file by Monday August 14th, you may get retroactive benefits from August 10th, 2022. For more information and to view a complete list of new presumptive conditions, please visit www.VA.gov/PACT. You can also call 1-800-MyVA411 and speak to a customer service representative. The PACT Act ensures that those exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, or other toxic substances during service can access the care they earned. Let's leave no veteran behind! #PFWarriors #CurePF4All #PACTAct #VeteransBenefits #SupportOurHeroes

I wanna make this #PACTAct thing super easy for folks. Please share the below link with your battle buddies (#veterans) and any family members who this may impact. Ask them to click the link and start an application. Super easy stuff! Let's encourage as many folks as possible to take advantage of the Monday extension. Also, the special enrollment period for VA healthcare sign up is ongoing. That concludes October 1. if you are a #veteran and want to receive your care at VA, which I truly would love you to do, visit VA.gov to enroll. Let's get this done as we approach the homestretch, teammates! #burnpits #agentorange #toxicsubstances #vietnamwar #gulfwar

The PACT Act doesn’t even scratch the surface re: the government taking care of veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals during their military service. Why?! Why is the federal government AND the VA not acknowledging that veterans are regularly exposed to a TON of toxins as part of their day-in, day-out duties, regardless of where they served, and then doing the right thing and taking care of these veterans in the same way as the PACT Act does for those who served overseas?! There is NO DIFFERENCE between a veteran who served overseas and was exposed to toxic chemicals via burn pits/downwind exposure, and a veteran who served state-bound here in the US, but was exposed to the same toxic chemicals!! Why is this so difficult for the federal government and the VA to acknowledge and do something about it?! My dad served in the Army and was exposed to various toxins daily, such as formaldehyde, Tetrachloroethene (aka “PCE”), Agent Orange (the Army stored huge barrels of it at US bases), pesticides, jet fuel, etc. I had similar toxic exposure in the Air Guard. But…THE PACT ACT ONLY HELPS VETERANS WHO MEET ITS EXTREMELY LIMITED FRAMEWORK. Why?! *EXPAND THE PACT ACT TO TAKE CARE OF ALL VETERANS WHO SERVED OUR GREAT NATION!!*

What makes a Veteran friendly community.. I’m glad you asked… 🤔 The Community Veterans Engagement Boards (CVEB) model enables Veterans and their advocates, service providers, and stakeholders to convene and have a voice in identifying community goals and resolving issues at the local level - to improve service delivery for Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors. But why…🤷♂️ VA leaders are participating more actively in community-based efforts to maximize the collective impact of local services, stakeholders, and federal and state agencies to improve Veteran outcomes where they live, work, and raise their families. The CVEB model provides a supportive framework for community leaders to coordinate high impact collaborations that seek to maximize different local stakeholders and leverage collective impact to address local Veteran issues. While every community has their own unique challenges, there’s likely a CVEB or other coalition or collaborative who’s already tackled a similar problem and can share what worked and what didn’t. “Community Veteran Engagement Boards are critical for a healthy Veteran community because they tell us not only what is needed, but what isn’t working. Once state, federal and local groups start talking, we stop duplicating efforts and begin solving what really matters for our Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors,” said John Boerstler, Chief Veterans Experience Officer at VA. The Veterans Experience Office (VEO) engages with these local boards to conduct outreach to Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors, disseminate information on different VA and community resources, and assist in ensuring they are fully-functioning and maintaining contact across VA administrations. All this sounds great, but how do I get started or find an existing CVEB? “Any organization interested in their Veteran community are encouraged to join an existing CVEB or consider building a new one. VA has tools, templates, examples, a community of practice and even a playbook to support and sustain your Veteran-friendly community.” To learn more about the VRCN or CVEBs, please email VAVEOCommunications@va.gov to request a consult. Let's work towards building more Veteran-Friendly Communities across the country! #VeteranFriendlyCommunities #Veterans #Families #Caregivers #Survivors #VA #CVEBS #VeteransExperienceOffice #VEO #VRCN #VetResourcesCommunityNetwork #CommunityCollaborations #Partnerships U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Angela Spatz | Andi Martinez | Tim Hudak | John Boerstler

If you've dedicated your career to helping disabled veterans like I have, then you know that Camp Lejeune in North Carolina isn't the only domestic military base where veterans were exposed to toxic contamination. I've spoken to countless veterans struggling to come to terms with a cancer diagnosis, who have no family history or discernible risk factors for cancer. After investigative research, our team frequently identifies a potential cause: exposure to contamination while serving at a military base *in the United States.* We've learned that Camp Lejeune is not rare; it is only the tip of the iceberg of over 130 military bases impacted by contamination. 📣 ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 Rob Levine Law is proud to announce the launch of our Domestic Military Base Exposure Map -- an interactive tool on our website providing access to our library of research on military exposures in the United States. Over nearly a decade, our team has worked tirelessly to uncover EPA reports, declassified DoD documents, and other reputable sources-- showing that many veterans have been exposed to hazards during their domestic military service. VA regulations make it easier for veterans with qualifying service to service-connect disabilities related to Agent Orange, burn pits, and Camp Lejeune water contamination. But for millions of others, the success of their VA disability claims hinges on the ability to submit evidence of *actual* exposure. With the Rob Levine Law Domestic Military Base Exposure map, it is our hope that more veterans can not only get the VA disability benefits that they deserve, but they can also make more informed healthcare decisions based on prior exposure(s). If you have any questions or feedback, please email me at kcraveiro@roblevine.com. With your help, we'll continue to improve this map over time as we uncover new evidence of military exposures in the United States. Check out the Rob Levine Law Domestic Military Base Exposure Map here: https://lnkd.in/dy77hnMr #veteransdisability #veteransbenefits #research #contamination #camplejeune #military

#OperationStaffSergeantParkerGordonFox In honor of a valiant soldier, Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox, who took his life amid a battle with mental health issues at a young age. Str8Up Employment aims to launch a 12-month campaign to locate veterans at risk of battling a mental health crisis. Str8Up Employment in New Jersey provides supportive employment services to youth involved in the welfare and justice system. Also, we now aim to conduct outreach services for a period of 12 months to identify veterans who may be battling a mental health crisis. The primary objective is to provide a lifeline to mental health in our community and to assure veterans that they are not alone. Moreover, we will connect these veterans with SSG-Fox service provider agencies that are located in New Jersey for long term services. I aim to bridge the gap in Essex, Union, and Burlington counties to ensure that those in crisis have access to the mental health support and resources that they deserve. Share this post: By spreading the word, we increase the likelihood of reaching those who need assistance. Connect me: If you have contacts or resources in the veteran support network, I'd love to collaborate and expand our outreach efforts. Financial Support: I can't do this alone. I am actively seeking funding resources to provide a stipend to volunteers who are crucial to the success of this mission. Let's leverage the power of our network to make a positive impact. Together, we can help save lives and provide the support our veterans need and deserve. If you have insights, or suggestions, or want to get involved, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's make a difference! #VeteransSupport #MentalHealthAwareness #NewJerseyServices #SupportOurTroops Dashaan Jennings djennings@str8upemployment.org

I would like to get more personal to help others understand that suicide looks just like YOU AND ME and we can WORK TOGETHER to address this critical issue..... I will never forget the day of my crisis event: I was 18 years old, on a medication known to cause suicidal thoughts, was getting ready to join the military, and was going 70+ mph on a gravel road and feeling HOPELESS, EMPTINESS, and that NOTHING MATTERED. After crashing my car into a ditch and making it out alive with only bruises, I thought about all of the people I would have hurt if I had lost my life that day and my feelings started to pour back into my head. I could not stop crying and the emotions were heavy. After things slowed down and I started to realize what happened, I knew that I had a bigger purpose in life. Since then, I never had another crisis event like that, but came close before I got support from the VA in 2009-2010. I tell you this because those of you that hide your feelings and do not talk to others about how you feel, can be driven to have a crisis event. DO NOT LET IT GET TO THAT POINT.......REACH OUT!!! (Text 988, talk to a friend, family member, battle buddy, me, or anyone) The mental health program that John C King, Trisha Houghton, Marcus Pierre, Brandon Nozaki Miller and others have partnered with us on IS COMING TOGETHER, and it will help address the mental health challenges before it turns into a crisis event. However, we need donations and everyone's support to help bring it together. Help Our Heroes (HOH) is looking for organizations that will coordinate with HOH and can help provide Financial Assistance, Veteran Service Officers's, Mental Health Assistance, Mental Health Outreach, Local and National Jobs/Employment Agencies, Homelessness/At Risk of being Homeless Assistance, Substance Abuse, Female Veterans Assistance, Legal Assistance, and Educational Assistance (Student Veterans) to our #veterans and #military. Working TOGETHER will help ensure that this program is successful and effective. Please help and donate at the link below: https://lnkd.in/geXaCmvx #savelives #strongertogether #veteranshelpingveterans
🎗️ Championing Change: A Beacon for OUR Veterans and Military Communities We have seen alarming numbers in suicide rates among veterans and military communities, Help Our Heroes, Strategic Engagement Consulting (SEC), and partnering organizations are stepping up and working TOGETHER with philanthropic organizations to pioneer a program that is being designed to drastically reduce these devastating statistics while also offering comprehensive assistance to our #veterans and #military communities. The main goal of the program is to foster safer environments for veteran and military communities, amplify suicide awareness, and promote early intervention. We are dedicated to dismantling the stigma attached to mental health issues and cultivating an environment for open dialogue and support. A cornerstone of this initiative is our alliance with organizations that offer Veteran Service Officers (VSO), such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Kansas Commission On Veterans Affairs Office, and other organizations locally to veterans that have trained and knowledgeable VSO's. These devoted experts will act as a crucial bridge between veterans and the essential resources they require, assisting them through the maze of benefits, healthcare, and other services. Understanding the pivotal role of financial security in mental well-being, we're seeking partnerships with with organizations such as Hiring Our Heroes, HireVeterans, and other organizations that help drive employment to transitioning service members and veterans that will enhance access to local employment opportunities. We are also seeking to partner with qualified professionals and organizations that provide job skills development, resume crafting, and networking events, that are all designed to facilitate veterans' seamless transition into civilian life. In addition, we're unwavering in our commitment to tackle the pressing issue of homelessness among veterans. Our team is also seeking partnerships with organizations like Veterans Community Project, Benilde Hall, and other organizations for extended aid to those in jeopardy, delivering housing solutions, legal guidance, and additional necessary resources. We acknowledge that Female Veterans encounter unique hurdles, and we're unwavering in our commitment to augmenting their resources and support. Being able to partner with organizations like Women Veterans Alliance, Women Veterans Program, and other Women Veteran support assemblies, and programs explicitly crafted for their needs. Recognizing the battle many veterans endure with substance misuse, we're introducing support schemes focused on both prevention and rehabilitation. TOGETHER, we can significantly improve the lives of those who have bravely served us. Stand with us in championing this crucial cause, because our heroes merit every ounce of assistance we can provide. 🎗️ #strongertogether https://lnkd.in/gR5rfFrQ
