Spent this week in the office 🖥️, catching up after a hectic travel week ✈️, and gearing up for a big push this fall 🍁. I hosted a webinar with a newer advising team that I am working with. They built their practice with in person events and dinner seminars. When Covid hit, that had to totally change how they got in front of prospects and grew the business. They began to host regular, informal client webinars. Sometimes they would have a packed house 🙋♂️🙋🙋♀️, sometimes not so much. The beauty of these events is because they were normally hosted on the same day/time, they established a regular cadence that began to attract more prospects and referrals. Here is what I observed: ✅ Webinars while maybe not the most impactful, are low cost and efficient for newer advisors who don’t have the budget to spend on in person events 🥂. ✅Webinars can be recorded and sent out to prospects & clients who were not able to attend, creating evergreen 🌲 content. ✅The time commitment, 1 Hour MAX, is easy to digest and accommodating for busy schedules 🚗🚊✈️. ✅Systems can be put in place to automate invites, confirmations, and follow ups. In 2014 I hosted a 1,000 person event. and the event tech failed. I knew there could be a better way. We had spent 4 months planning this event. 1,000 people were registered. And 160 more were on the waitlist. Initially, we didn’t rent the entire venue. But 24 hours before doors opened, we negotiated adding capacity. The numbers made sense. Our other vendors were in. All contracts were amended. We had the waitlist to support it. So… We went into the registration platform and approved the entire waitlist. Within minutes our phones started blowing up. No one could register. We desperately tried to get support from the registration provider. But it was Friday night at this point. We went with the “name brand” registration solution. Why wouldn’t we? We didn’t bother doing any homework. Just assumed everything would work. Until it didn’t. And we got burned. Our margins got crushed. People on the waitlist gave up and made other plans. We didn’t hear back from the registration company until Monday. But it was to late. I knew there had to be a better way. I’m not saying that software won’t have bugs. I wish I lived in that fairytale. But when something does go wrong - there should ALWAYS be someone on the other side to help. And thus - Accelevents was born. With 24/7 support in under 30 seconds.
