Before joining Trees for the Future's Forest Garden training program, Wilson didn't grow fruit trees or save his own seeds. Today, he is an expert in both. The fruit from his trees serves as both food for the family and a stream of income. And his seed saving helps him grow his garden and earn extra money to support his family.

Really clean prop installation but the Class II portion of the code required Class III can be omitted in a fully sprinklered building with a simple 2 1/2” x 1 1/2” reducer cap and chain. Note: Really hate seeing standpipe gauges reading ZERO, even props-lol #standpipes
Recognizing the value of hands-on training, Troy is all about blazing a trail in the future of #firesafety education. Through our donation of a fire hose cabinet/standpipe connection mockup, we’re proud to help support the St. Clair College pre-service fire program in #Windsor, Ontario. This system will provide students with essential hands-on training for standpipe connections and #highrise operations, ensuring they are well-prepared for real-life scenarios. Here’s to investing in safe training for our future firefighters.

You might have only just decorated it, but when it’s time to say goodbye to your real Christmas tree, here are 5 reasons why you should use our Christmas Tree Collection Service. 1. It saves you a trip to the tip – let all those pine needles end up in our van instead of your car! 🚐🎄 2. You’re supporting your local children’s hospice and helping children with life-limiting conditions 💫 3. It’s good for the environment. By chipping the trees we collect, we reduce the carbon footprint of each tree by 80% ♻️ 4. It’s a learning opportunity! Trees will be turned into environmentally friendly wood chippings by students at Merrist Wood College, which will then be used for their animals.🎓🐂 5. Peace of mind – sign up today and know that you’ve got one of the first tasks of 2024 sorted! 🎉 Sign up at https://lnkd.in/eCudtRWC

Happy Arbor Day! (And my giveback.) Marco Island is considered a jewel in Southwest Florida. ↳ Stunning beaches, balmy climates and endless blue waters. And very few trees. In fact, Marco Island’s tree density is about 1/3 of the national average. One of the lowest in the entire state of Florida. So when I moved here, I created a giveback program: ↳ "Ten Thousand Trees for Marco Island" ↳ All funded by donations. Including maintenance. And residents have been generous: - The first trees were installed just before Arbor Day this year. - Dozens of trees now line streets on the island. - Now, more trees provide shade in the parks. The value of trees are many: → 15% increase in home or business value → 50% reduction in air conditioning costs → 31% lower odds of developing psychological distress → 50% reduction in UV-B radiation Just one acre of trees provide enough oxygen for 18 people. ↳ But Florida has lost 26% of its tree coverage since 2000. Well, we can change that. Easily. By planting trees. Here is a short video I put together on the value of trees. Have a great weekend!

The Residential Outdoor Education (Wales) Bill, proposing a funded entitlement for children in Wales, is continuing its journey through the Senedd, and the debate in the Senedd itself will happen In April. Prior to that, the committees responsible for scrutinising the proposals will be reporting their recommendations soon, and, whatever the outcome, the Bill has raised the profile of outdoor education/learning significantly. The news report and debate on 'Sharp End' (start at 22:35 in) are worth a look 👇 #outdooreducation #outdoorlearning #equityineducation https://lnkd.in/eP6g3twh

Elementary teachers, Wanna what's the second reason school gardens fail? (first reason, talked in a previous video, is that they are built and maintained by parents) If your school garden is guilt and maintained by you, the teachers, then the number one reason it will fail is... that you start TOO BIG! Your school garden project is inspired by many well-meaning people with a lot of exciting ideas with lots of enthusiasm! Or you sometimes have a million and one idea that you want to get done... You need to HOLD YOUR HORSES! Start small but impactful! Start growing indoors. That's what my Oasis Classroom program series are all about. Growing over 20 varieties of veggies and fruit in your class that can then be donated to community garden groups, food banks, etc. Can be given away, taken home, or even sold to raise funds for your school. This is what I call impactful. But also EASY! All in your class... With your own students... Under your control... During your instructional time... Connected to your curriculum... All done by your students... Without any headaches of getting approvals... Going after big money... Worrying about summer maintenance... Organizing and managing people... Even if an Oasis Classroom garden is too much, you can start by growing one thing every month with your class... Yes, even in fall and winter... Yes, even in colder climates... Instead of pushing through a lot of growing in spring, your growth spreads out and it'll be a lot easier for you. For that I have opened the Oasis Teachers Membership program. Go check it out! Done-for-you step-by-step growing activity guides every single month. Just download and run with it in your class. GET BENT… Leading the non-profit mission of Two Wolf Foundation leaves me needing a lot of things. I need funding, equipment, trucks, partners, friends…and most importantly…hope, that it will all come together (no doubt through hard work and determination). But if you asked me right now… “What do you need Brian?” I need to get bent. I am missing little fish, big smiles, and the peace of the water right now. This past summer, I discovered the powerful activity that is fly fishing through my friend Cameron Cushman and his work with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. When I first started fly fishing, it was simply out of curiosity and interest in another mechanism to get outside. I didn’t really think it would be my thing but I was willing to give it a shot. I was wrong! Through the months of July, August, and September, I fished nearly every single day. At the conclusion of the workday, I would make my way to little flowing trout streams in the evening and commit to 90 minutes of pure zen mode with the cool clear water flowing out of the mountains. Fly fishing became my opportunity to shed the stress of the day, to quiet my racing mind of all the chaotic thoughts of work requirements, and allowed me to simply exist in a moment of time without pressure. Pretty powerful stuff. 📸 : Cameron Cushman #flyfishing #wellnesswednesday #powerflex
