Intern Spotlight Series: Meet Pietra
Hello 4JET community! We are thrilled to introduce our second intern turned full-time employee: Pietra.
We have to ask the burning question right at the start: "Hiking or NETFLIX?"
For Pietra, this question isn't merely a one size fits all answer. For him it all depends on the weather. Having been born in a tropical location, he prefers a hike during temperatures anywhere above 15°C. But when colder European temperatures come around, Netflix will be the option to go. 😉 Apart from hiking or binging Netflix, Pietra cherishes the simple things in life. On the top of that list is spending time with his wife. Whether that's a walk, cooking together, or being more adventurous and exploring other places, the most important part is spending time with family and friends.
If that wasn't enough, Pietra has a little secret that started with the question: "Why do we think differently?" This question peeked his interest in neuroscience and the fascination with how the human brain works.
Pietra's interest in 4JET was peaked during a company fair, where he saw a 4JET logo, laser engraved into an apple. Crazy right? He then started 4JET quite a few years later, in 2019, as a working student in our JobShop department. If you thought engraving apples was crazy, then his first role may surprise some of you. He was tasked with pretreating battery cells prior to coating, in one of our development labs.
Pietra himself comes from a mechanical engineering background, a decision he made pretty early on during his time at school. On top of his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, he transitioned into a master's degree in Production Technology with a focus on optical systems, after experiencing lasers during the early days of university and a fascination with light as tool. And currently Pietra is part of our Laser Process Development Team, spending countless hours in the laboratory, refining and testing a variety of systems. The enjoyment he gets from developing new processes, to optimizing existing ones are part of the reason he's still with 4JET today. He also cherishes the different company events each year, great colleagues, and the harmonious working environment here at 4JET.
Pietra has known the company now for many years, and worked here for quite some time as well, and his passion for lasers drives his quest for knowledge. With a plan to return to his home country someday, he's trying to soak up as much knowledge as humanly possible, so he's prepared for whatever life throws at him!
