The success of bank-fintech partnerships is a hot topic and a top contender in 2024 predictions. How can you influence the success of bank-fintech partnership? 🐠 Using the Fishbone Analysis, I have come up with questions to consider during the partnership journey for each part of the fishbone diagram. I have modified the components to suit the problems of bank-fintech partnerships with people, processes, and technology. It has six components: man, method, machine, materials, equipment, and environment. There will be six posts, and each post focuses on a component. 2️⃣ This post will focus on the second component, method (organizational processes) ❓ Can the bank's internal processes (programs, procedures, policies, and measurements) effectively support the new partnership?  ❓ Will the bank's customer onboarding, servicing, and support processes align well with Fintech's processes? ❓ Where must the bank supplement its risk and compliance programs to mitigate risk? #banking #creditunion #leanmanagement #bankingasaservice #fintech #operations

After reading a recent FDIC consent order (Thread Bank), I found the emphasis on the importance of having a robust wind-down plan in place for your FinTech operations. Our approach is to always plan ahead, but this order called out specifically. Proper planning ensures minimal disruption and maintains trust with your customers and partners. Here’s a checklist to get you started: 1️⃣ Monitor FinTech Relationships: Keep a close watch on all FinTech relationships, including third-, fourth-, and fifth-party providers, to anticipate and manage service interruptions. 2️⃣ Response Process: Clearly outline the steps to take in response to a service disruption. Quick and efficient action is key! 3️⃣ Staffing Requirements: Define the necessary staffing and their respective roles. Everyone at the bank should know their part in the plan. 4️⃣ Customer Notification: Develop a strategy for notifying customers about service disruptions and the Bank's response. Transparent communication builds trust. 5️⃣ Outside Assistance: Identify any external help needed to implement your plan effectively. Whether it's legal advice, technical support, or communication experts, know who to call. 6️⃣ Notify External Stakeholders: Establish protocols for informing external stakeholders and regulatory agencies. Keeping them in the loop is not just a best practice but often a regulatory requirement. Planning for wind-downs isn't just about being prepared—it's about safeguarding your business and customer relationships. Stay proactive, stay compliant!
