This is what acting human looks like… the way life should be… God, I love this. It just feels so right, because it IS. So rarely in life is there a real reason to not choose love and caring over all else. It takes the ability to do a paradigm shift. It takes the ability to have empathy. It takes the ability to learn vicariously that just because we may not have or be experiencing something, it is very real, still. Acknowledging and acting on this ideology is what puts humans first… even if it takes a little extra time. I think it is worth it one thousand fold. Just my take on life… WE MUST ALLOW EMPATHY, LOVE, & SUPPORT to rule us. I think it’s the only way for meaningful progress … in a culture run on capitalism on steroids. Don’t always put “winning” first, put being human first.

I'm about to resurrect your faith in humanity. If you're going to watch ANY video today... let it be this. A young Oklahoma little leaguer was accidentally hit in the head by a ball.... and the pitcher was devastated. So the kid who was hit walked out to the pitcher’s mound to let the pitcher know that he’s going to be okay. Now THAT is sportsmanship. REPOST and make these kids famous. #thinblueline #lawenforcement

In every setback in life we have a choice in our response. Like I always say, “most people don’t get up in the morning intending to harm anyone.” How do we make this world better? Remembering we’re all human. This video isn’t about bias but it sure is a great illustration of how unconscious bias behavior impacts others. As the ball, like our words, travels between the sender of the message (the pitcher) to the receiver of the message (the batter), landing with brute force, enough to knock the wind of out of you. Yes, words can have an impact that can bring us to our knees, figuratively and literally. It is also a great illustration of choices. We can chose our response to challenging, even painful situations. As human beings we have an opportunity every day to make a difference in this world through our choices and our leadership is the driving force. Leadership isn’t about a title it’s about our action. The first place we learn about leadership is how we lead ourselves. It begins with the decisions we make instinctually, every day. Having a keen awareness of self and others. What has the greatest impact in this video? The unintended mistake, or the response to it? It’s easy to be impacted by an offense and walk away hurt, holding a grudge or worse internalizing an unintended consequence as a personal attack. Instead, we can choose to have empathy, to reach across the isle in love and help the person understand the mistake and the impact and give them a safe place to learn, grow so both people can move forward whole. That’s how we grow together. #Humanity #leadership #inclusiveleadership #awareness
