Last week our HR Leadership team took time out to focus, engage, learn, and have a bit of fun along the way! From prioritization to team effectiveness, from people analytics to community service at the CLEVELAND KIDS BOOK BANK- it was an incredibly rewarding week. A BIG THANKS to the HR Leadership team for role modeling our values not just last week, but each and every day! Let's continue to #OperateSafelyandResponsibly, #BeBetterEveryDay, #DrivetoWin, #OwnIt, #SeekDiversePerspectives, and #ActasOneLubrizol.

On this Friday, let's reflect on the importance of supporting our people. It's not just about paying them what they're worth, but also about helping them push their brand and giving them the grace they need as they grow. True leadership and friendship means investing in the success and well-being of those around us. It's about recognizing their talents, nurturing their potential, and providing the support they need to thrive. So, let's commit to being champions for our people, lifting them up, and celebrating their achievements. Together, we can create a culture of support and empowerment that fuels success for all. #SupportYourPeople #AYLSpeaks #Empowerment

The idea of “bringing your whole self to work” has revolutionised workplaces. It’s opened pathways for development that may have previously been closed to people with protected characteristics. And it’s encouraged people to celebrate who they are, rather than having to come to terms with the idea of progressing their careers in spite of it. Yet, for all the good the concept has clearly done, are there still parts of our “whole selves” we’d rather leave at home? We asked Katy Barnes, Director of Reporting and Analytics, who offers some of her typically well-considered nuance, below. 👇 #LifeAtSage #SageCareers #Leadership #TechLeadership #WorkplaceCuture

Every generation in the workplace appreciates employee thank you gifts, and Generation Z is no exception. In fact, showing appreciation is even more crucial to engaging these young people. Several characteristics are emerging in the generation born after 1997: they have high expectations, they’re practical, and they’re in a position to influence the workplace for years. I loved being asked to share my career story with the team at Sage. One thing they honed in on from the story was my perspective on bringing your 'whole self' to work. There's a real mixed bag of viewpoints on this topic... In my early career I got feedback to be less 'me'. As an ambitious but insecure 20-something with a deep reverence for senior people at my organisation, I spent lots of time carefully listening to this feedback and trying to action it. That led to me developing inauthentic and less effective traits, while feeling exhausted and miserable. I'm a work in progress, but I think I have a much better balance now. I am open about who I am as I am a strong believer in 'you can't be what you can't see' and I love working for an organisation like Sage where I can be myself. I am also open about my unique strengths and where I can add value, and equally about where my development needs or limitations exist. But the truth is, I am a different version of me with my friends and family. For example, I am highly organised at work. At home, I beg friends and family to organise me, to tell me where to be and when, so I don't need to flex that bit of my brain 24/7 and I get some rest from it! I have met some awesome friends at work over the years, and know that having a work bestie is proven to make you more resilient and more productive. I just don't bring the chat we have over coffee in to our senior leadership meetings.

"...we must not overlook the ongoing need to connect on both human and business levels to tackle structural inequalities and foster a sense of belonging." The emphasis on improving core management processes as a means to address inequity is a noteworthy strategy. Embedding DEI into key business functions rather than treating it as a separate entity is a powerful way to drive sustainable change. Auger-Domínguez's focus on equipping managers with the "beautiful basics of management" highlights the role of leadership in fostering a culture of inclusivity. #DEI #DiversityandInclusion #HR
