Hearing your child’s first words, listening to your favourite song, going to watch your all-time favourite band in concert, watching your child’s school play, going on that first date to the movies, chilling out in front of the TV after a hard day ….. Now imagine not being able to hear any of it, or struggling to hear, what impact would that have on your life? ….. There are many people affected by hearing loss and in honour of this year’s #deafawarnessweek we want you to pledge that you will choose the right hearing protection (if needed), be educated on how to fit it properly, and look after it, as you should not suffer noise induced hearing loss simply by going to work. #deafawarenessweek2024 #hearingprotectionmatters #uvex

Hearing protection devices are used to reduce noise in very noisy environments, minimizing the risk of hearing loss. On the other hand, hearing aids are used to enhance sound quality for better hearing in noisy environments. Talk to a hearing care professional about your auditory concerns, and together you can decide if you need hearing aids, hearing protection, or a combination of the two. https://lnkd.in/dPbTa8Mc. #WhyStarkey #HearBetterLiveBetter #HearingProtection

Safety Talk Spotlight: Because what you don’t know CAN hurt you. Loud noise damages the nerves in the inner ears, and exposure to too much noise for even a short period can lead to hearing loss over time. Warning signs that you are at a risk of hearing loss: • You need to speak loudly to be heard while at work. • You have a ringing noise in your ears at the end of your workday. • Speech or music muffled after you leave work, but it sounds clear in the morning before work. If you experience any of these signs, you must protect yourself from hearing loss by wearing an ear protection device, such as earplugs or earmuffs, while working in a noisy environment. It's International Noise Awareness Day! 🔊 After age-related hearing loss, noise-induced hearing loss is the second most common cause of sensorineural hearing loss. It could be loud machinery in the workplace or prolonged use of earphones. Whatever it is, NIHL should be taken very seriously and can be easily prevented with ear defenders, earplugs, and simply monitoring how loud our environment is. #ProtectYourEars #NoiseProtection #HearingSafety
