All that worry about sleep?
We’re actually spending roughly the same amount of time in bed as our grandparents did at the same age.
Found this overview on the changes to what we do with our time in the UK really interesting as - I imagine - will anyone who wants people to do more sport.
Eg:
- Professional men and women spend much more time actively looking after their children than they did in the 60s.
- To the extent that today’s professsional men have less leisure time than their professionally-employed grandfathers.
- That extra devotion to childcare by professionals means summer holidays are now very different experiences for children depending on their parents’ income.
- Whereas in the 60s, children spent much longer in unsupervised play and did a lot of the same things, regardless of their socio-economic background.
