It was an honor to speak alongside some great people and share some thoughts with the group. Already seeing some 2024 speaking opportunities lining up, and I can't wait to share about them over the next couple of months! #professionaldevelopment #leadershiptraining #leadershipcoach

Deputy Director of Impact and Engagement, Enterprise Research Centre, University of Warwick Business School
💡 Really insightful day at the Chartered Association of Business Schools Interdisciplinary Research Symposium in Bristol yesterday. The focus was both on the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of interdisciplinary research. Why is it important, and how can business schools catalyse more of it. I was pleased to be invited to speak about our fantastic interdisciplinary work at the Enterprise Research Centre (UK) at University of Warwick - Warwick Business School A few key points stood out during the day for me: 💡 There is a clear case for IDR in the context of the current time – both due to the complexity of the societal problems we face and also the pressure on business schools to demonstrate more clearly how they can make a difference and be resilient. 💡 Research Councils are recognising the importance of IDR, particularly because of its ability to tackle complex problems in a range of areas. More funding is being made available, but researchers need to pay more attention to how they integrate multiple approaches so that projects are truly interdisciplinary. 💡 Leadership is crucial in terms of creating an environment in which IDR can flourish, spaces need to be created where ideas can be exchanged and new connections made, and careers paths need to recognise the IDR route. Business schools need to have confidence in the unique contribution they can make to IDR projects – in terms of bringing the business perspective and connections. 💡 Relationship building is key to successful IDR, and this is frequently time-consuming. High quality support from professional staff is crucial and needs more resourcing. A great discussion, which I’m sure will continue. And we got to go on a historic boat too on a beautiful day! What’s not to like?! ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council Jennifer Johns Steve Johnson Leroy White Adnan Bayyat, PhD Alison Park

When Public-Private Collaborations Work Best https://lnkd.in/ezNtX_FT Public-private collaborations can work as well as private-private partnerships when it’s time for discovery and innovation. But in later stages, like during commercialization, public-private collaborations fall behind, due to misaligned social and economic incentives and organizational processes, according to Academy of Management Journal article by Birgul Arslan of Erasmus University, Gurneeta Vasudeva of the University of Minnesota, and Elizabeth B. Hirsch of the University of Minnesota.

Today was Day 2 of the Leeds Beckett University Business School Conference; and for the final session of the day we heard from Natalie Allen and Jo Griffiths all about Knowledge Transfer Partnerships. What is it ❓ A Government-funded programme helping businesses develop and gain a competitive advantage with the expertise of UK universities. How does it work ❓ Each KTP creates a unique partnership between a business and a university to deliver positive impact and drive innovation. Every project is tailor-made for your business. Who funds it ❓ The programme, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through Innovate UK KTN has been running for over 45 years. During that time, it has enabled more than 14,000 businesses to drive innovation for positive impact. What else does it offer ❓ The KTP programme is complemented by the Management KTP Programme (mKTP), focused on helping businesses build resilience, adaptability and growth by changing culture or expanding management capability. It helps : ✅Drive competitive advantage and boost profitability ✅Generate new knowledge and foster a culture of innovation ✅Create new products and access to new markets ✅Embed expertise across the business Find out more at https://lnkd.in/eZxrDa6X or watch the video below ⬇ https://lnkd.in/esCN7ERm

Per Accelerate 2025, Robinson’s strategic plan, the college’s mission is to “prepare people from all backgrounds to lead, innovate, and achieve their potential to advance business and society.” But students can’t become the best version of themselves if they don’t know about all their options. That’s why Jen Bailey, associate dean for undergraduate programs, created the Undergraduate Business Research Experience (UBRE), an initiative that exposes participants to the possibilities of a business research career.
