Ken’s insights from decades of studying what good looks like and #ShigeoShingo teachings included that we in healthcare need to focus on flowing processes so caregivers have the TIME to care for the patients!! If those #worksystems and #processes aren’t putting the right materials in the right place at the right time so that people can deliver care… then that is the #improvement you should make first.
Starting Day 3 - Learning from the annual UC Berkeley - Center for Lean Engagement & Research (CLEAR) - Research Symposium- great organization and annual event - Ken Synder from the Shingo Institute is giving the first keynote.

Scientific inquiry is a cornerstone of human advancement, but it must be built on the foundation of human integrity. Scientific methods used by unethical humans significantly decay trust and waste precious financial/social capital. While not passing any particular judgement on this case at Stanford, it serves as a crucial reminder of this reality. At its core, scientific research is a pursuit of truth, and we must espouse the highest standards of honesty in our work. I also recognize that team science requires a level of oversight that can be sometimes challenging. We must teach early and often at work and in our homes of the need to strive for integrity and excellence in everything we do (particularly scientific inquiry), while also ensuring accountability in our teams. #science #integrity #truth #accountability #teamwork

Do you ever wonder how the German academic landscape works? It is such a complex web of interconnected yet competitive entities. From government coordination to research funding sources, universities, and non-university research institutions, a diverse array of actors shape the scientific realm. Yesterday I was able to to attend an inspiring talk by Jan-Martin Wiarda. He explored interdependencies and responsibilities within this system and reflected on how universities deal with expectations, assert their interests and make a contribution to society Gaining insights into the evolving governance structures and collaborative efforts that drive innovation in German academia was a great experience. #GermanScience #AcademicGovernance #CollaborationInResearch #UniversityLeadership #ResearchFunding #SciencePolicy
