There is the fundamental aspect of the history of nations seeking independence, including the United States and other colonies. The pursuit of independence was often driven by the desire to assert cultural and political autonomy, protect the rights of the population, and escape from the dominance and control imposed by colonial powers. #United States

I believe in the United States of America, as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies https://lnkd.in/gsFRwwNt

It’s National Reconciliation Week (NRW) - a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in Australia and foster reconciliation. It's the first reconciliation week since the failure of Australian people to adopt the Voice to Parliament referendum last October. We’ve been blithely posting a project each day, celebrating collaborations with Noongar artists and Elders to share their stories, their way. And that’s all nice, however on reflection, in a post-referendum Australia there is a lot of hurt and anger and rejection, and that needs to be addressed. That’s reflected in the NRW theme this year "now more than ever"; it’s an urgent call for progress. Reconciliation needs to be the work of wadjelas / white fellas, and that work starts with truth telling. So, instead of celebratory posts, we’re inviting you to make plans for tonight or maybe the weekend - make a cuppa, get comfy on the couch, pop on the tellie, and settle in for some truth telling. We’re recommending that you turn to SBS On Demand and watch The Australian Wars. It’s a three-part award winning documentary series that traces the Australian frontier wars from the landing of the First Fleet in 1788 until the 1920s. Created by the brilliant First Nations filmmaker Rachel Perkins, it seeks to understand the tactics and strategies employed by both British and Aboriginal people, and asks why war was never declared. The series focuses particularly on Aboriginal resistance to settlement, and explores the lives of those involved in the wars, its impact and legacy on Australia today, and what has been called "the great Australian silence" about many of the massacres. Freedom stands as the bedrock of our community, a treasured privilege that enables us to share our ideas, convictions, and hopes. It forms the base of our existence, fostering the exchange of impactful conversations and the pursuit of our ambitions. In this era of transformation, it’s imperative to maintain the tenets of liberty for all, safeguarding the universal right to voice opinions. We should Together, let’s commit to mutual support, empathetic listening, and dialogues that motivate and uplift. In doing so, we pay tribute to the essence of freedom and work towards a society where every individual’s voice is heard, every creed is esteemed, and freedom transcends from an aspiration to an everyday reality for everyone. The message of freedom of speech is designed to be respectful and uplifting, emphasizing the global significance of liberty and the critical role of open communication within a varied community. It consciously steers clear of explicit political discourse, opting for a tone of diplomacy throughout. The mention of President Biden and the issue of free speech on campus appears to be a specific concern. While addressing such problems is essential, it’s equally vital to ensure that discussions remain constructive and focused on freedom and open dialogue.

This revolution of the mind had physical consequences as Americans openly and sometimes violently opposed Great Britain’s new assertions of control. The right to representation, political independence, separation of church and state, nationalism, slavery, the closure of the Western frontier, increased taxation, commercial restrictions, use of the military in civil unrest, individual freedoms, and judicial review were some of the salient issues that boiled up in the revolutionary cauldron of Britain’s American colonies. This should remind any of us who can think for themselves the revolutionary spirit which founded our nation. Americans have always fiercely defended their rights and freedoms, from political independence to individual liberties. Today, we face an unprecedented invasion and an attempt to financially destroy and dibilitate a nation. American citizens the have a great spirit of resistance and determination which will lives on. There are many who remember the lessons of the past and continue to fight for a better future. #AmericanRevolution #Freedom #Rights #Resistance

American Revolution (1775-1783)? The American Revolution (1775-1783) marked the thirteen American colonies' struggle for independence from British rule. Tensions had been brewing due to issues like taxation without representation, restrictions on colonial trade, and increased control by the British Parliament. The conflict ignited with events like the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, followed by the formal Declaration of Independence in 1776. The war involved key figures like George Washington leading the Continental Army and culminated in the Treaty of Paris in 1783, where Britain officially recognized American independence. The Revolution had far-reaching effects, establishing the United States as a sovereign nation founded on principles of democracy, individual rights, and limited government. It inspired movements for independence and democracy worldwide and laid the groundwork for the U.S. Constitution and its system of government. #csstudenthelp

Today the focus is on sacrifice, freedom, and democracy! We must keep the memory of D-Day Alive. The U.S. landing in Normandy was a critical moment in the defense of democratic values against totalitarian regimes. It symbolized America's commitment to preserving democracy not only at home but also abroad. The bravery and sacrifice shown by young soldiers on D-Day serve as an inspiration for future generations about the importance of defending democratic values. I am committed to preserving our freedoms here and abroad. #DDay #80thanniversary #normandy #OVERLORD #france #lestweforget #democracy #freedom See less

Today, we celebrate 77 years of freedom. This is a day to remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and to reaffirm our commitment to building a better future for our country. But true freedom is not just about political independence. It is also about having the freedom to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life. This means taking care of our physical and mental health, being responsible citizens, and creating a clean environment. Here are a few ways that I celebrate my true freedom: 1. I make sure to eat healthy and exercise regularly. This helps me to stay physically and mentally fit, so that I can be the best version of myself. 2. I pay my taxes and vote in elections. This is my way of participating in the democratic process and making a difference in my community. 3. I reduce my waste. This helps to protect the environment and ensure a healthy future for generations to come. 4. I support local businesses. This helps to strengthen the community and boost the economy. 5. I am always at 110% to give back to society. How do you celebrate your true freedom? #HappyIndependenceDay #truefreedom #united

🎇 Happy Independence Day! As we gather to celebrate our nation’s founding, let’s reflect on a core question: What makes America truly great? 🤔💡 #July4th #IndependenceDay On this day in 1776, our founders embarked on a bold experiment in democracy by declaring all people are created equal. This principle has guided us as a nation through more than two centuries of change. It’s a reminder that our strength comes from our commitment to freedom—for everyone. 🗽📜 Consider the early patriots, who dared to imagine a free America where every voice could be heard. From the abolitionists to the suffragettes to civil rights heroes, every generation has champions who have pushed us closer to fulfilling that original promise of liberty and justice for all. Isn’t that the heart of patriotism? ❤️ This July 4th, let’s honor our nation not just by looking back, but by looking forward. Let’s commit to ensuring that freedom and justice are not just ideals, but realities for all. As we enjoy today’s celebrations, let’s also ask ourselves: How can we contribute to making America live up to its highest ideals? 🌟🚀 #4thOfJuly #AmericanPride #FreedomAndJustice
