Unlocking the political puzzle: Can BJP secure South India's allegiance? As the Lok Sabha elections loom closer, the political landscape in South India is heating up, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) setting its sights on gaining ground in the region. In a bid to expand its footprint beyond its traditional strongholds, the BJP is eyeing the southern states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Traditionally, South India has remained elusive for the BJP, with the saffron wave failing to make significant inroads. However, recent developments suggest that the party is ramping up its efforts to win over the allegiance of voters in the region. In Kerala, despite the state's strong roots in communism and a significant minority population, the BJP is making strategic moves to woo voters, particularly focusing on the Christian community. In Tamil Nadu, where the party has historically struggled, efforts to position itself as a viable alternative to the ruling Dravidian parties are underway, with notable faces being fielded and alliances being formed. In Karnataka, the BJP faces challenges from a resurgent Congress and internal disagreements, yet it remains a significant player in the state's political landscape. And in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the BJP is aiming to unsettle regional parties and push its anti-Muslim agenda. As the BJP endeavors to secure South India's allegiance, the upcoming elections promise to be a battleground where political strategies will be put to the test. Will the BJP succeed in its mission, or will the southern states remain steadfast in their traditional political affiliations? Watch the detailed analysis: https://lnkd.in/gFJa5Et2

Thank you Justin Clancy MP for speaking up about the ‘Voice’ at the NSW Legislative Assembly, on 11 October 2023. To be clear, I fully and wholeheartedly support the ‘Voice’ and have already cast my ‘Yes’ vote at an Albury pre-polling station. I encourage everyone to take the time to read the relevant Hansard extract (link below) to review Mr Clancy’s statement, and reflect on his shared sentiments. Three stand-out passages: “Recognising the draw towards constitutional recognition and understanding the importance of consultation and co-design to effective outcomes, I have held goodwill towards an Indigenous Voice in the Constitution”. “Each of us must make our own decision independently at the ballot box, as is our democratic right and obligation. May we each discern our position through being informed, through the lens of both our personal and national values and through how we see the future of our nation being shaped. That necessarily draws a focus to actions and beliefs that go towards remedying areas of Indigenous inequity and disadvantage. Irrespective of the outcome of the referendum, there is much that lies ahead of us. As a community and as a nation, who do we aspire to be?” “Today, tomorrow and next week, we must continue to find our common ground and to strive to see that the nation brings its people along on this journey. We will find our way forward, whatever the outcome. People of goodwill will remain people of goodwill. There is so much to work with there.“ Together we grow.

Selby & Ainsty may be Labour’s best by-election result in almost 90 years, not just because of the size of the swing and the 2019 Tory majority, but also because it demonstrates the extent to which Labour is broadening its reach. Yet in Uxbridge Labour will be concerned that their national poll lead could be trumped by as parochial an issue as ULEZs in such a high-profile contest. Food for thought and an interesting analysis of last week’s results from Arden Strategies ⬇️
Last week, the Tories suffered two record defeats - in Selby & Ainsty and Somerton & Frome - yet the Tories held Uxbridge & South Ruislip, a genuinely marginal seat So what do the recent by-election results mean for the parties? We've broken it down on our website https://lnkd.in/e_7ynCsX

Effective government requires our participation Today’s column by Heather Cox Richardson, an American historian, summarizes the disorder caused by Republican Party leadership: * a U.S. House of Representatives that is unable to function because no leader has been elected * a proposed Speaker of the House, Steve Scalise, who previously compared himself to Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke “without the baggage” and went along with the lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 Presidential election * a U.S. Senator, Tommy Tuberville, who has placed holds on more than 300 military promotions and other diplomatic positions because he opposes a rarely used policy allowing military women in anti-abortion states to travel to other states to get an abortion * a U.S. Supreme Court that ruled in Rucho versus Common Cause that although partisan gerrymandering is incompatible with democratic principles, it cannot be challenged in federal court. It can only be challenged in state court, which is usually not a practical remedy because these courts are typically dominated by the same party that produced the gerrymandering. Listen to one of the many voices of reason. This is a straightforward summary of why you should vote “Yes”. #referendum2023 #Yes #voice
On the 14 October Australians will enter the solitude of the ballot box. You will have the option of three words or two. That choice is a significant one. There’s a lot of information and misinformation out there, including some are saying if you don’t know vote no. I don’t subscribe to that. This morning Victoria’s Aborignal leadership came together to ask us to vote yes. If you have any doubts or want to know why they want your vote, please, please watch this 2minute clip from Rueben Berg the Co-chair of Victoria’s elected voice.

As we approach the upcoming GOP debates, it is crucial to reflect on the party's rich history and principles. In these speeches from Republican National Conventions, President Reagan reminds us of the importance of working towards a common goal and upholding the values that make our country great. #RNC #RonaldReagan #GOP

There is confusion among new politicians as they consider that Parliament is more powerful than Courts, because it is what happens in Eastern Democracies. In Britain, after King's rules and wars, the power is divided among 4 authorities equally: 1. King 2. Parliament 3.Courts 4. Armed Forces. I learnt this when I qualified Diploma in Politics, Society of Apothecaries in London. Please make compulsory to pass examination in Politics to MPs. and Lawyers.

Astute tweet from Kos Samaras (of the Redbridge polling group) on public policy priorities: “The quickest way to ensure the election of Right wing populist is to only apply solidarity to identity. Solidarity was once about expanding the progressive franchise. That’s clearly not a strategy atm in the US or even in Aus. The only way to stop the election of a Trump or any other Right wing populist is to expand solidarity to class. Economic equality. That’s going to require a whole bunch of people on the Left side of politics to work completely outside their comfort zone. Otherwise, get ready for a Trump win, unless something drastically happens in the U.S. The same applies in many other jurisdictions. “ https://lnkd.in/gkceU5zG
