School Sport Victoria in partnership with AFL Victoria is pleased to have delivered 8️⃣ Australian Football 9v9 pilots in 2023 across the #SSV regions. The pilots have been a resounding success with key outcomes including but not limited to more touches, more students kicking goals and higher scoring, which leads to a better experience for more students. Students: ✅ 123 students completed the survey w/ 60% of respondents not currently participating in community footy or Auskick ✅89% of the students that don’t currently play any form of footy would like to continue playing 9v9 in 2024+. For the students that currently play footy: ✅88% would like to continue playing 9v9 in the future ✅84% enjoyed the new format ✅67% stated they touched the footy more often in this format than they had previously Teachers: ✅98% enjoyed the 9v9 experience ✅97% believe 9v9 has a place in primary school footy ✅92% found it manageable supporting multiple teams from their school ✅91% stated students touched the ball more in this format ✅74% found their students enjoyed the format more than 18v18 The 9v9 pilots align with the AFL - Australian Football League’s ‘Junior Rules – Guiding Principles’ which are: 🔹Play 🔹Peer and community connection 🔹Inclusive and accessible 🔹Safety, and 🔹Wellbeing 👏👏 Congrats to all involved including SSV’s coordinators, Andrew Ainger, Nick Holloway, Kayla Bannister, Ben Kavenagh, Rebecca Marshall, AFL Vic field force and the ACHPER Victoria team incl., Greg Schneiders who led the research and evaluation. #SSV #PlayValueConnect #SchoolSportforAll

Exciting news ahead! We've teamed up with Jason Perry and the NRL Game Development team to offer an incredible opportunity. We're providing all Prep to Year 2 students at our neighboring primary school with the chance to dive into Rugby League through some engaging training sessions happening this week during PE. 🏉 They'll learn how to score tries, work as a team and grasp the basic rules of our beloved game. But the excitement doesn't end there! Next week, we're hosting a HUGE intra-school gala day. This is where every single P-2 student will experience friendly competition against other classes. 🌟 Now, we understand that mastering Rugby League takes time, but we've got a secret weapon - an army of NRL development pros! The entire SEQ team will be present to guide each team on the field in a fun and inclusive manner, ensuring that the kids pick it up super fast. Our mission this week? To encourage as many parents from the school community as possible to come and watch their children play Rugby League.
