Did you know that 2 in 3 cats have oral disease by the age of nine? A recent study from the University of Bristol, funded by the Waltham Petcare Science Institute, shows that more than 50% of health issues in cats are not raised to veterinary attention. This is partly because it can be difficult to notice abnormal conditions in cats. Taking them to the vet can also be stressful for both the animal and the owner. 🐈 Royal Canin's #TakeYourCatToTheVet campaign explains to owners the importance of taking their cats to the vet for regular check-ups. We have been working hand-in-hand with clinics to help them adopt cat-friendly practices. Some of these can be dedicated spaces in waiting rooms, training employees handling anxious cats, and equipping vet offices with elevated structures for cat carriers to help them feel safer. #RoyalCanin #ProudlyRoyalCanin #Vet #Cat #Cat2Vet #CatOwner #Stress #VetVisit #InternationalCatDay

Why Should Flat-Faced Dogs And Cats Be Banned? 🐱 🐶 Listen now! Joining Anthony for this episode of VETchat are Cat Henstridge, Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon and Social Media Influencer as 'Cat the Vet' and Kelly Kessen ♾️☮️☯️💟 , Advisory Veterinarian at Dier&Recht. In this episode, they discuss brachycephalic dogs and cats. They cover their common health issues and the laws and regulations that are starting to be put in place against these animals. Kelly explains the new law in The Netherlands that bans the breeding of dogs with a flat-face under the new 'traffic light' criteria. This criteria requires that the muzzle is at least as long as half of the skull. Cat shares her experience with trying to create this change in the UK, and how important it is that we change public opinion of flat-faced animals. They also discuss banning the use of flat-faced animals in advertisements, the potential upcoming trade ban in The Netherlands, and how you can get involved with the campaign.
