According to recent statistics from Feeding America, there are more than 44 million people experiencing food insecurity in the United States, including one in five children. In partnering with other nonprofits, such as World Relief, Construction for Change works to address hunger through the creation of kitchens and gardens, as well as working with local food banks. You can contribute in three meaningful ways:  DONATE NON-PERISHABLE FOOD: Your generous donations of non-perishable food can be dropped off at either United in Faith (Fellowship Hall) or St. Cyprian's Food Pantry. These vital supplies will help us provide nourishment to those in need.  SUPPORT WITH MONEY: Monetary donations play a crucial role in our mission's success. With your financial support, we can buy larger quantities of food from the Greater Chicago Food Depository at more affordable prices, maximizing the impact of every dollar.  VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME: We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join us on Mondays and Thursdays during food distribution days. Additionally, on most Wednesday mornings, we need help receiving and sorting food items from the Food Depository, ensuring they are organized and ready for distribution. Since 1983, Lunch Break has continually served the food-insecurity needs of its under-employed community members, never missing a meal service even in the midst of natural disasters, government shutdowns and the COVID-19 pandemic. As current state statistics point to an increase in the need for food services, Lunch Break is ready to meet the demand, but we need your support to sustain daily operations. More than 650,000 people in New Jersey face hunger every day and approximately 175,000 of them are children. In Monmouth and Ocean counties alone, 1 in 10 people are food insecure and 1 in 5 of those are children. The good news is that the hunger crisis can be solved by working together. Through continued donations, our community kitchen has provided 12 percent more meals and our pantry has increased grocery distribution by 27 percent since January 2022. That's why we're thrilled to announce our fourth annual food drive, benefiting All Faiths Food Bank and local families in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. We've seen the incredible impact we can make when we all come together. In the past four years, with the support of our clients, friends, and community, we've collected enough donations to help 1,600 local families. This year, our goal is to raise an additional 200 pounds of non-perishable food, bringing our combined impact to 2,000 families helped. 🥫 How Can You Help? 🥫 Donate Non-Perishable Food: Feel free to drop off your non-perishable food items at our office.
