We’ve been doing this Brightside Collective thing for less than a month now, and already? Well, we’ve learnt a lot. Let’s just say that. Apart from navigating new biz ownership and ALL THE things that go with it, we’ve found that the many businesses we’ve met with and plan to meet with in the new year have people + talent problems outside of recruitment that we ACTUALLY have the power to help solve. Like getting the right eye balls on ad-copy and then the right people to apply is hard yakka. We know that first hand. But we also have a few good recipes up our sleeve that we reckon can help many businesses change the way they attract the right talent. Now is most definitely not the time to be talking about all of this. We get it. But next year? I've been seeing a ton of ready-to-work tags on many of my former T-Mobile colleagues saddly. I think with news that's surfaced recently, the thing that's more sad is the number of them that choose to apply to internal postings even though they don't really want the role. A company chose to lay these folks off, and then almost simultaneously offer a divided to their shareholders. To me, personally, I chose to find something better. Something outside of an industry I was comfortable with, but where I could be VALUED. Somewhere where they would never prioritize shareholders over a long-tenured hard-working employee like me (The reason I chose to work for a non-publicly traded mutual company). I just want to tell you guys a couple things. 1) Your loyalty and hard work should be reciprocal. 2) You are worth more and can do better. 3) Moving to other industries and companies is scary.. but the world is FULL of opportunities. 4) Don't fall into the "devil you know" fallacy. 5) There are people (LIKE ME) who would LOVE to help you find value here at NYL, or somewhere else!
