It was an honor to serve RaiseUp Families as their Executive Director for nearly 4 years. In that time, the organization experienced unprecedented growth: ✅ Expanded Board of Directors by 50% ✅ Doubled the number of families (clients) being served ✅ Client outcomes improved by 100% (average income increase in signature 9-month HandUp program went from 35% - 71%) ✅ Client graduation rate improved from 80% to 91% ✅ Revenue growth from $450,000 to $1,000,015 (donations from private sources) These outcomes are a result of the Board of Directors and staff working together towards a common goal, each person utilizing their unique skills and abilities in their individual role to help the bus arrive at its desired destination. They are the result of hours and hours of innovation, hard work, and determination. As RaiseUp Families celebrates its 30th Anniversary of stabilizing families from vulnerable communities who face unexpected financial crises so their children can focus on their education, giving them the opportunity for a better life, it needs a full-time leader with passion, vision, and experience to lead it forward. I could not be happier that Kate Yadan will pick up this torch and lead RaiseUp into the future! When Sal and June came to us, they wanted to go into retirement, but were worried if they would have enough to live off while supporting their children and the charitable causes important to them. How willing are we to REALLY get down on our hands and knees and scrub out the trash in our business that is causing the biggest stink? This weekend my teenage son and his high school cross country teammates were fundraising for their team to go run at Nationals. They were visiting neighborhoods asking residents if they could clean out and pressure wash residents’ trash cans to get rid of the collected nastiness of old grass clippings, dog souvenirs, and who knows what else that stink up a garage. I couldn’t help but be wildly impressed by how these young men were literally crawling headfirst into these dungeons of delight to scrape and clean them down from top to bottom as they went from house to house. I snapped this quick pic of them working without any of them knowing. Dive into the nitty gritty of what’s causing your rot and fix it! Ignoring it only makes it worse. Don’t ignore what’s causing the stink in your business. Tackle it quick, tackle it hard, tackle it thoroughly, then move forward knowing you won’t have to revisit it again and again.
