A few days ago I saw a post about how org leaders should be the quarterback of their fundraising efforts. As a former HS Football player in Texas, let me tell you that idea is misguided. Instead, I'll offer one of my favorite sports analogies: Leaders, be the Point Guard of your Development team. A good PG is a facilitator, the pacesetter. They can score, but primarily they set others up to put up points. They can bring the ball up, or they can fall back when a teammate takes the lead. They are often the embodiment of the team's values. Find a Jordan to lead your fundraising, and then let them cook. Be a Magic, a Kerr, a Staley, a Dame.
