U.S.VETS, a member of the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF VETERAN SERVICE AGENCIES (CAVSA), joined fellow service providers in Sacramento this week when lawmakers declared June California Veterans Awareness Month, acknowledging CAVSA for ongoing work on behalf of veterans. Through housing, coordinated support for veterans with risk factors that can lead to suicide, counseling for post-traumatic stress and substance use disorders, career services and more, CAVSA members address veterans’ needs statewide. U.S.VETS CEO Steve Peck, also the CAVSA Board president, accepted the resolution with leaders of CAVSA member agencies, CAVSA Executive Director Chuck Helget, and California Assemblymembers Eloise Reyes and Pilar Schiavo. #servingthosewhoserved #honorUSVETS

The consequences of mold exposure can be severe, affecting both civilians and veterans alike. It can disrupt and disable your life, and in extreme cases, even lead to suicide. Recently. Two of our EBHC research partners were on Capitol Hill to meet with Senate staffers and had the opportunity to be interviewed. What they said is something everyone needs to understand about mold-related illness. EBHC is partnering in this research with Dr. Heyman and Dr. Ross. Congrats Niki Falzone and P 22. Very proud to have worked with them on this. Platoon 22 Announces Role in Veterans Treatment Court to Support Veterans in Need [Frederick, MD, April 22, 2024] – Platoon 22, a leading advocate for veterans' well-being, proudly announces its collaboration with the Veterans Treatment Court to extend crucial support to veterans facing nonviolent offenses. This strategic alliance aims to address the unique challenges veterans encounter, offering a pathway to rehabilitation and stability. Unlike circuit courts, the Veterans Treatment Court operates at the district level, specifically targeting victimless crimes. Platoon 22 emphasizes that participation in the program is entirely voluntary, respecting veterans' autonomy in choosing the best path forward. Through this opportunity, Platoon 22 has been named as the dedicated Docket Coordinator for District 11 covering Frederick and Washington Counties. This role ensures a harmonious environment conducive to treatment, fostering a supportive community and reducing recidivism rates. "This partnership underscores our commitment to serving those who served regardless of discharge status or any other extenuating circumstances," stated Niki Falzone, Executive Director at Platoon 22. "By coordinating with the Veterans Treatment Court, we can offer Veterans facing district court level offenses access to essential resources and support systems tailored to their unique needs." Key highlights of the initiative include: Voluntary Participation: Veterans have the autonomy to choose whether to enroll in the program, ensuring that they are active participants in their rehabilitation journey. Focus on District Level Court Offenses: The program targets victimless crimes, providing an opportunity for veterans to address underlying issues without the stigma associated with criminal offenses. 14-Month Program: The typical program length spans 14 months, allowing veterans ample time to engage in treatment, access resources, and stabilize their lives. Through this initiative, Platoon 22 aims to empower veterans, connecting them with vital services such as U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and local resources. By addressing veterans' specific challenges and barriers, Platoon 22 and the Veterans Treatment Court seek to create a brighter future for those who have bravely served our nation. The Writ of Mandamus and Motion for Leave, with additional information I recently submitted to CAVC stands as a beacon of hope and a call to action for our veterans. This legal endeavor isn't just about adhering to the letter of the law; it's about upholding the values of honor, courage, and commitment that I share with those who have served our great nation. The mishandling of PACT Act and toxic exposure claims is more than a systemic flaw; it's a breach of trust that directly contradicts the values we veterans live by. We deserve a system that works for us, recognizes our sacrifices, and treats us with the dignity we have earned. With the Writ and Motion for Leave, I am not merely navigating legal channels but taking a bold stand for justice. This isn't just about correcting errors; it's about championing what's right and just for all who have worn the uniform. Imagine a world where veterans' claims are met with empathy, expertise, and fairness. That's the future I'm fighting for with these legal actions. The potential impact is immense, extending beyond legalities to the very core of how we treat those who have served. I am proud to take on this fight, but the battle is far from over. Support from fellow veterans and concerned citizens is crucial in this endeavor. Together, we can turn this vision into reality and ensure that the principles of honor, courage, and commitment are not just slogans but lived values. #VeteransRights #JusticeForVeterans #PACTAct #ToxicExposureClaims #NavyValues #HonorCourageCommitment

This makes NO SENSE and is appalling 😳🤬 A direct attack on our Protector community for only POLITICAL means. The only conclusion I can come to is the democratic political leaders of VA have decided to target and punish the protector community - our veterans, Gold Stars and 1st responders. That is what I told @petehegseth this morning on @foxandfriends . PLEASE SHARE THIS FAR AND WIDE TO GET AS MANY VIRGINIA VETERANS TO SEE THIS AND TAKE ACTION. Senator Bryce Reeves @reevesva - has submitted bill SB6003 - supporting this bill are 17 republican Senators and two democrat Senators - the bill is calling for a total repeal and reinstatement of the VMSDEP program and adds for comprehensive study of the program. Senator Louise Lucas is working on a separate bill - that will not repeal or reinstate. We don’t know what exactly is in her bill but rumors are it only provides for a small amount of our community of sacrifice (Gold Stars and 1st Responders) and none of our disabled veterans . Many of you say to me, Governor Youngkin @glennyoungkin is saying this will be repealed BUT he has NO SAY if the bill to repeal and reinstate is not approved in the Senate and General Assembly. There are lots of additional places cuts could be made but this isn’t about saving money, it is about targeting our military and veteran community. What do we need you to do? I need EVERY Virginia military member, veteran, Gold Star family, and 1st responder to call your legislator (go to who’smylegislator.com to find yours) and BLOW THEM UP with calls and emails that Senator Reeves bill must be heard on June 18th and that Senator Lucas MUST NOT BLOCK IT! This must happen tomorrow guys before the Senate meets this Tuesday June 18th! We must Unite. We the People. #vmsdep #virginia #virginiaveterans #veterans #veteransrights
