LA State Historic Park—with its city skyline vistas and location just minutes from our national office—hosted LA Pride in the Park this month, offering a scenic backdrop for U.S.VETS to raise awareness within LGBTQIA+ communities about services to help veterans manage social, mental, and medical stressors. U.S.VETS is dedicated to providing individualized support including preventative care to help all veterans live with dignity and independence. Led by our Aging Services staff, the day’s community engagement and visibility sparked new connections, and raised critical funds toward Steps for Vets, U.S.VETS’ annual 5K fundraising event to prevent and end veteran homelessness. #ServingThoseWhoServed #HonorUSVETS

Sister José Women’s Center, a Tucson-based nonprofit, is committed to the mission of aiding and uplifting women experiencing homelessness. At their low-barrier day center, they offer unaccompanied women stability and safety, providing them with a refuge to heal from the harsh realities of life in the United States. There are women centers and women's shelters but there are not enough beds. These elderly women are vulnerable, most of them have chronic illness or battling with dementia. They are experiencing homelessness because they cannot afford housing in Tucson anymore. Sweeping away homeless encampments is not the solution. Tucson, how can we help? This is not a rhetorical question: If we all get together, I am sure we can find a solution. https://lnkd.in/d7ttvhkB

Visionary, Community Violence Intervention Consultant, Grant Writer, Positive Behavior Support Consultant, Subject Matter Expert for the Institute for Intergovernmental Research, Gang Interventionist, Founder
Approximately 1 in 28 children in the United States has a parent incarcerated(jail or prison), heightening the risk of perpetuating this intergenerational cycle. Consequently, the involvement of community members and organizations dedicated to supporting teenagers and families is crucial. Numerous community-based organizations are actively addressing this issue. Consider aligning your support with one that resonates with your values by contributing through donations or volunteering. While I passionately endorse my organization, there are numerous others making a significant impact. If you are involved in initiatives aiding families or teenagers in our community, kindly share your organization's information and mission below to facilitate awareness and support. Collaboratively, we can make strides toward positively impacting the lives of children and families in our community. #intervention #prevention #arkansas

Four decades, four causes. In staying true to one of our primary core values – giving back - we are honouring each of our four decades with a donation of $40,000 split between 4 different causes. This week, we would like to highlight our second cause – Atlohsa Family Healing Services. Founded in 1986, as an outgrowth of a Needs Assessment Survey, which indicated a severe need for family violence services catered specifically to First Nations communities to promote the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of First Nations women, men and children. Today, Atlohsa’s services include holistic wellness, emergency shelters, transitional support, anti-human trafficking programs, youth programs, supportive housing, winter response programs, and so much more! Our donation will be applied to their Zhaawanong 24-hour emergency women’s shelter, which is an Indigenous-led shelter and support for First Nations women and their children who are at risk of violence, abuse, and/or homelessness. For the women and children that stay at Zhaawanong, it isn’t a shelter or even a house… it’s a home. A place that, for many, represents the first time they’ve ever felt a sense of safety and belonging. We are thrilled to be able to support such an incredible organization! #thezavitzway

Executive Director at OMI Cultural Participation Project • Social Media Content Creator • Social Media Manager • Graphic Designer
OMI Cultural Participation Project is committed to artistic & cultural excellence in San Francisco District 11, and providing resources to those in need. With the high cost of living pushing many vulnerable individuals & families to the brink and onto the streets, we recognize the need for safe & secure housing, and basic necessities to help stabilize our community. As homelessness continues to rise citywide in San Francisco, and especially in our community, our goal is to create a network foundation of support and compassion with our community partners, providing hope and a new start for those who have fallen on hard times. Together we can create a ripple effect of compassion and generosity that reaches far beyond what we can imagine. By joining forces and rallying support for this cause, we're not just offering temporary relief; we're planting seeds of hope and empowerment. Every donation, no matter how big or small, has the power to transform someone's life. It's often easy to underestimate the impact of a simple act of kindness, but for someone in need, it can mean the world. Your support could provide shelter, nutrition/ meals, or essential resources that can help someone rebuild their life and regain stability. Let's come together and be the beacon of hope that lights the way for those in need.
