Thought of the Day: A world-class sprinter is ultra fit, extremely fast, efficient with their motion and with all those things combined, they’re capable of feats that other simply aren’t. Their goal is to expend every ounce of effort and energy into getting to their destination as quickly as possible. 🥵 A world-class sprinter would be at their best for a single race, but if they needed to pass the finish and go straight back into the blocks for a second race, that second race time would be slower (and the risk of injury increased). Ask them to go into a third race, a fourth race and it becomes physically impossible as the muscles have not had time to rest and recover. 😩 A sprint race should always be a single event. In software engineering, I think it’s high time that the term “sprint” is renamed to something that represents regular, sustained and ongoing batches of work, with a focus on regular iterative delivery of value, rather than using a term which suggests an energy-sapping all-out effort, sprint after sprint after sprint. Answers on a postcard, please! 🤔

Kia ora! I would like to share something interesting that I have learned from my mentor about the science of neural entrainment in 1665, a scientist messed up the pendulums of all clocks in the same room, so that each of them is moving differently and randomly, however the next day and he found that pendulums are ALL synchronised and are moving together! Entrainment occurs because small amount of energy is transferred between 2 systems out-of-phase (i.e. having different intervals) which produces negative feedback, that encourage systems to harmonise to get into a stable- phase relationship to gradually reduce energy released to zero i.e. nature itself encourages systems to operate together and harmonise. During a discussion with my accountability partner @Faustina Santos, she shared an eye opening info, the photo of waves attached to this post explains when you work with someone who resonates with you and have good vibes, this increases productivity and you both thrive due to the constructive inference waves formed that magnifies the waves (the large blue wave). While working with someone with negative vibes cancels your energy, flattens the waves (blue straight line) and decreases productivity. That explains a lot for me, that was really an eye opening tip!
