I'm pleased to join the VECTOR North America #SDV Symposium in #Michigan (technically Livonia) to give a keynote presentation on the industry's progress towards building, supporting and commercializing SDVs - as well as some practical observations for how to address common problems. I like to frame these in the style of Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, a model many of us picked up in our high school/college years in Psychology 101. The idea is that before you can achieve self-actualization - the top tier that allows people to be creative and maximize intellectual potential - more basic needs like food, safety, and belonging must be achieved first. In the context of automotive, before you can truly take advantage of what SDVs have to offer ("self-actualization"), there are a ton of other competencies that must be mastered first. Rushing to the top of the pyramid while ignoring the foundation is a recipe for disaster, and one we're seeing repeated amongst many volume automakers. Excited to share the first paper presented and published with the title "Securing Safety" at the One Day International Conference on Recent Advances in Engineering Science and Technology (ICRAEST)! 🏍️🔒 Our research focused on improving bike helmet locking systems. We found that current systems are lacking and proposed an innovative solution to lock helmet with integrated bike accessory, eliminating the need for keys.   Proud to have our work published in  Vol. 9, No. 2, 2024. A well-defined ‘business problem statement’ should clearly define the challenges that a business is facing. This should be concise and specific, avoiding vague assumptions. As we continue to celebrate the Innovations of Allegion we turn our focus to the FSH by Schlage FSS1 series. Designed as a state-of-the-art monitoring solution for high-security applications, the FSS1 uses seven magnetic sensors to detect the unique magnetic footprint of the magnets on the opposing faceplate. One sensor to detect the distance of the magnetic faceplate in relation to the device, while the other six sensors are used to determine the polarity, size, strength and position of the magnets on the unique faceplate. This three-dimensional data is registered into the device.
