😈 👨👩👧👦 📑 External conditions have made CEO challenges even more complex. From increasing cyberattacks to shifting workforce expectations, CEOs face decision-making that goes well beyond traditional shareholder value models and their own personal experience. CEO decisions center on increasingly complex and fast-changing topics that frequently involve an ethical or moral component and deciding on one topic can cause other issues to rise to the forefront. Adding to these challenges, CEOs face a lack of standards around decision-making, particularly in emerging areas such as sustainability and data and privacy. CEOs state that common standards could help smooth the way, speeding decision-making throughout the organization. #artificialintelligence #generativeAI #cybersecurity #canadiancybersecurity CANADIAN CYBERSECURITY INC. Did you know? 💡 A recent survey found that 92% of international practitioners report having skills gaps in their organization—with cloud and artificial intelligence most commonly cited. However, AI and cloud tech are crucial in today's modern business landscape, so leaders need to do what they can to address these skill gaps. I think the best tip in this piece is definitely to focus less on tech skills and more on problem-solving. "Fighting cybercrime is as much about curiosity, problem-solving and patience as it is about coding and technology. These critical thinking skills cannot be found in specific degrees or industry certifications, so adapt your candidate screening process to find what's important," writes Ed Adams. #Cybersecurity #AI #CybersecurityTraining

Sr. Director and Head of Global Product Marketing, Trellix (McAfee/FireEye); Ex-CrowdStrike, Ex-Microsoft -- a leader at many of the world's most influential cybersecurity companies
Earlier today I talked about the prediction that more than 50% of cybersecurity leaders will leave their jobs and 25% will leave cyber altogether by 2025. It’s a difficult thing these people do. It demands a lot of dedication and effort, and a support system is needed in the form of GenAI. It’s also needed in the form of coworkers, managers and leadership – and that’s true across more roles than those in the SOC. Everyone working in cyber needs support. Here’s to everyone I work with who gives their all every day. If ever I make your day difficult, please call me out on it. I will do better. I will learn and be the support system I should. Trust me, it likely kept me up at night, regardless, as I ran it back in my head – but I still welcome the feedback and will listen. I know first-hand how hard it is to do what we do. (The image below is brought to you by AI, by the way – just to tie up both of the storylines on my page today with a final generative bow.)

The ISC2 2023 Cybersecurity Workforce Study underscores the persistent and escalating global workforce gap in cybersecurity, which has now reached a staggering four million individuals. This shortage, coupled with the challenges arising from layoffs, budget constraints, and hiring freezes, poses an alarming threat to the cybersecurity landscape. The study's revelation of an upsurge in insider threats—linked significantly to economic uncertainty—highlights the complexity of cybersecurity risks in evolving environments. The correlation between cybersecurity-related layoffs and the increased potential for insider threats emphasizes the vulnerability faced during times of organizational instability. Moreover, the study brings attention to the critical knowledge gap in AI within the cybersecurity domain. As AI's significance in cybersecurity grows, the lack of expertise in this area becomes a pressing concern that needs immediate attention and skill development. #CybersecurityGap #insiderthreats #aiincybersecurity #diversityinclusion #cybersecuritytraining #workforcechallenges #cybersecurityinsights #infosec #ISC2Study #cyberriskmanagement #cyberdefense #AIKnowledgeGap #aiadvancements #aichallenges
