New! Year 5 Maths cluster This new session focuses on the mathematical needs of a specific year group. Starting on 15th November 2023 with Year 5, it will be in person, venue Croydon Clocktower at 16.00 to 17.30 Teachers will learn how to support their pupils secure the year 5 key maths knowledge. I love this idea from Joanne Miller. Get students #engaged by using simple #mathematical statements and #interactive tools in the #classroom Further instill #growthmindset by having students work in pairs to assess and debate the logic behind each of the answers posted on the sticky notes. Introduce them to the concept of #constructivecriticism which should serve as a catalyst for #personaldevelopment and learning enhancement. Students need to recognise the absence of knowledge as the start of the learning journey and not the end. Moreover, from a #cultural perspective, students learn to value the #diverseperspectives of their peers. *LSAT Logical Reasoning Advice to Understand Arguments More Quickly* To understand LSAT Logical Reasoning arguments more quickly, here's some advice: To start with, identify the conclusion of the argument. Then the evidence and any subconclusions. Also, counterpremises, etc. You want to identify all parts of the argument and see how they fit together. It's not so much about getting the content down as it is about getting the method of reasoning, which is how those parts relate to each other. One "trick" to get it down faster is to cut out useless filler information bounded between two commas: "LSAC, which is located in Newtown, produces the LSAT." Becomes "LSAC produces the LSAT." By reducing the # of words you're dealing with, you save time. Another trick is to replace a complicated word with its definition or a simpler version of that word. Dumb it down for yourself. For example, take the question about microglia in LSAT PrepTest 64, Section 3, Question 17 - whenever you see "microglia" in the stimulus or answer choices, insert "brain's immune cells" to make it simpler. (They define it for you in the stimulus, but then continue using the tougher word.) #lsat #lawschool #a1353 #lawstudents #lawstudent
