Dealers and vendors, a mutually beneficial partnership starts by providing clean data and truthful information as an exchange to build a foundation on which the relationship will grow. Before you bring on an AI tool to assist, make sure that you have your house in order. Ensure your processes are not only dialed in, but in writing. By tightening up your process, you will save some time in the store, and you will set your dealership and the AI up for success by allowing it to learn how your dealership functions and grow from that knowledge.

I recently used this video in a regional GM and Director TEAMS call as I presented a quick lesson in a segment I call “fix your fixed” where I give quick tips and pointers to the GMs for their fixed ops departments. Here were the lessons: 1. INSPECTION WHAT YOU EXPECT. I love how Taffer was back in the shop, the parts department and the service lane observing and critiquing. We need to become inspector gadget more often! 2. PHONE CALLS - VOICEMAILS. It made me think the importance of greeting and responding to every customer. There will be times the customer needs to leave a voicemail, and then what? I was curious, so I called all 8 of my service and parts departments and left voicemails offering a $10 gift card for a call back…. I only got 1 call back!! OUCH! Broken process to say the least!! I encouraged the GMs to mystery shop their stores and leave voicemails to see what happens. Great job by NADA putting this one together.
