Yesterday I took part in a webinar with David Perring, FLPI from Fosway Group, focused on managing global mobility and distributed work effectively in uncertain times. Before we got into the main discussion, we asked the attendees about their top challenges related to distributed work. The challenge that got the most votes was: ‘The rise and convergence of different types of distributed work (business travel, remote work and assignments) and its impact on compliance’. This wasn’t a surprising result, given that we know from some of our own research that: ✈️ 73% of employees say they would like the option to add a ‘workcation’ onto their business trips - blurring the boundaries between business travel and remote work. 🌐 78% of the employees we surveyed had worked outside of their state or country in the previous 12 months. 1 in 2 HR professionals say they found staff working where they shouldn’t be. Does this ring true at your organization? Is your business finding it harder to manage compliance with a more and more geographically dispersed workforce? Message me or comment below if so! #distributedwork #workcations #HRcompliance #globalmobility #remotework #businesstravel

Managing a Global Workplace When we asked companies at a recent webinar how they handle requests to work from abroad, surprisingly, only 29% of respondents said their company had a policy in place. The vast majority either responded to requests as they came in or were unaware of personnel working abroad. The result is hidden tax implications which can come as a surprise for the remote worker and the employer. If you would like to find out more about the challenges of managing employees working abroad, speak to your usual Blick Rothenberg contact or visit our website to connect with our Global Mobility colleagues who will be delighted to assist.
