Global sports brand Lululemon Athletica Inc. opened its first logistics center in South Korea. It's located in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.  This marks Lululemon's third logistics center in the Asia-Pacific region, following Hong Kong and Australia. The company aims to accelerate its efforts to establish a strong presence in the key Asian market by shortening product delivery times. Qualifying suppliers can be very complicated. In theory, it should be quite simple. In practice, most Quality Managers are hired after relationships have started, POs are cut, and they immediately have to play catch up. In fact, we work with many brands and manufacturers who have HUNDREDS of unqualified suppliers. Some of these companies do >$100MM annually and still don't have a solid supplier qualification and monitoring system in place. Why is there a gap in their supplier qualification system? -supplier qualification takes a lot of time, which we rarely have enough of to begin with -it can be uncomfortable to disqualify legacy suppliers "out of nowhere" -the impact (and requirement) of supplier qualification is misunderstood/undervalued -pulling your Quality Manager/whoever away from the day to day for supplier auditing derails progress on other critical initiatives I struggled with this in every Manager/Director/VP role I've ever had, for all of the reasons above. Which is exactly why contract supplier qualification and auditing are core offerings at Qualitas Executive Group.
