In our work, we have a saying: Hurt people hurt people. That's why it's crucial to engage communities and individuals with lived experience when creating pathways to public safety. Those who have been directly impacted by violence and the justice system possess invaluable insights into what they need to be safe and thrive. By prioritizing their voices and experiences, we can develop more effective, compassionate, and sustainable strategies for keeping our communities safe.

It can also be a great way to mobilize some support when it comes to communicating with our legislators. The more our citizens understand the issues and limitations that we deal with at the county level, the more they can help advocate for us and the local issues.

With five pillars at the center of this movement: Safety, Integrity, Growth, Progress, and Community, we aim to reclaim our right as a county to dictate our destiny.
