Dear #foreign talent working here! Did you know about challenges in Estonian health care? When coming from abroad, healthcare topics can be challenging, since things are different when back home. Even though you were not sick much at home, you might get here, due to the new environment, climate or often also relocation-related stress, so it is better to be prepared! The good thing is that the state healthcare is free for everyone who is working here. However, as any kind of system, it also has its downsides. Things to keep in mind: 👉🏻 Getting to a family family doctor’s (general practitioner) list, who is first point of contact to healthcare, will take time. It will require residence permit, address registration and finding a doctor, whose list is not full. 👉🏻 In the state system, the language can be a barrier, although many doctors and nurses speak English, it is not an obligation, be prepared if you are asked to come with an interpreter. 👉🏻 Medicines used and prescribed can have different names/compositions, so double-checking yourself is important. 👉🏻 Many issues in GP-s office are covered by nurses, so please insist for seeing a doctor if you want a second opinion. 👉🏻People with complex medical history have to be extra patient and attentive. If possible, get consultation from back home. Although the state and private system has not much difference in quality, it can sometimes be beneficial to use private due to the fact that queues are short, staff tends to smile more 🤭 and English language is widely used. E.g. you can use healthcare package if offered by your employer to cover the cost. A huge "THANK YOU" to Brent Roelofs for pointing out the topic for us to consider. We wish you the best of health! PS: We made an informative post on what to do when you fall ill. Healthcare draw invites 3,500 This new healthcare draw invited an impressive 3,500 Express Entry candidates who may be eligible for the healthcare category. As we've seen before in category-based draws, this draw comes with a much lower CRS requirement than we observed in yesterday's general draw. It also appears to indicate that Express Entry is picking up steam as this month we've already matched the number of draws held in January. A total of 3,500 candidates were invited with scores starting at 422 CRS points. This is the first healthcare draw of 2024! It follows a general draw from yesterday and shows a significant drop in its CRS cut-off score. This is likely due to the nature of category-based draws selecting only the top candidates of one specific category in the Express Entry pool. This healthcare draw also comes along with the news that Express Entry categories in 2024 will remain the same as last year. 📞 or WhatsApp: 18889090050 Email: borderd@borderd.co Website: www.borderd.co . . . #canadaimmigration #immigrationconsultants #canadastudentvisa #expressentry #canadianimmigration #immigrationconsultancy #borderd

In a recent Washington Post article, the growing legal immigration backlog has come into focus, particularly affecting the hiring process for foreign nurses. The report highlights the challenges faced by healthcare institutions in the United States, struggling to address the shortage of qualified nurses due to delays in visa processing and immigration procedures. As demand for healthcare professionals continues to rise, the bureaucratic hurdles in the legal immigration system are impeding the timely recruitment of foreign nursing talent, impacting both the healthcare industry and patient care. The article underscores the need for reform in the legal immigration system to streamline processes and alleviate the burden on essential sectors like healthcare. Policymakers and stakeholders are urged to address these challenges promptly to ensure that the United States can effectively meet its healthcare demands while providing opportunities for skilled foreign professionals to contribute to the country's workforce. The conversation around immigration reform must prioritize the critical role played by foreign nurses and the overall impact on public health, calling for a balanced approach that fosters efficiency, fairness, and the well-being of both healthcare institutions and the communities they serve. Dr. Mary McCaffrey is a Consultant Gynaecologist. Her areas of special interest are fertility, menopause and pelvic pain. Dr. McCaffrey works as a Gynaecologist at Limerick Women’s Prison and as Deputy Coroner, Cork City
COMING TO A NEW MEDICAL JOB IN JULY! It’s that time of the year when doctors will have completed interviews and may be moving from another country / culture to Ireland. It takes a bit of adaptation, so how can you get ready? *Firstly, make sure you start the process first Irish Medical Council on time. *Start your visa process, most Medical Manpower Managers will assist guide you with this. * Many people come from countries where individual medical indemnity is not commonplace. I strongly recommend your own supplementary indemnity. The Medical Protection Society have a very supportive process for International Medical Graduates. Check this out on the website. They provide indemnity for Medical Council hearings / additional cover for Coroner inquests, educational resources and counselling when it is needed. * Adapting language and styles of communication are also something to consider. Even when we are proficient in English, medical English can be challenge. Dialects, consent etc can be very different here. Rachel Williams and Helena Docherty are two online resources that I am aware of. Prof. Peter Gillen and Ms. Winnie Ryan have excellent modules on communication. These are accessible on HSEland and I recommend them. Wishing you all the best of luck in your new posts. #medicalpractice #medicalprotection

Recently Bradley Bilinsky assisted two wonderful GPs in finding the next chapter in their careers. Before the COVID pandemic, they managed to secure AHPRA registration quickly by completing the AMC clinical exams and the 12 months of supervised practice. Prior to moving to Australia, they secured their own visas for temporary residency and a suitable GP position in regional VIC without any assistance. Initially they saw life as a GP in Australia through rose coloured glasses. Working 8 to 5 Monday through to Friday, 10-to-15-minute appointments, and excellent staffing support was what they were expecting. Given the challenges to secure a temporary visa, registration with the AHPRA, finding a suitable GP position, little consideration was given to the location. With no prior knowledge of Australia or recruitment support they were stuck in a position that did not align with their values and career development. They vowed not to make the same mistake twice. After a consultation with DXC we managed to understand their requirements, manage expectations and guide them towards more well-suited GP opportunities. No stone was left unturned – preferred billings, climate, patient demographics, available GP services, necessary support, average gross billing rates etc. were all discussed and addressed. We listened and delivered. Through our consultative approach, we identified an amazing practice for them in South Australia! A state that they didn’t even consider. They could not believe how easy the process was. DXC Medical Recruitment took care of all the arrangements, meeting, calls, and negotiations at NO COST. This gave them time to focus on their permanent residency applications, completing their GP training programs and finding suitable housing in recommended locations. If you are a GP looking for the next step in your career or an IMG starting the journey, please reach out to learn more about suitable options.
