Following sky-high #alternativefuels new orders in January and February, slightly slower activity was registered in March, with a total of five new vessels with alternative fuel propulsion added to our Alternative Fuels Insights database📈 Orders for #LNG (1) and #methanol (2) dropped off after sharp increases at the beginning of the year. Momentum for #ammonia continues, with two additional orders bringing the total to five for the first three months of 2024, a clear signal that investment in ammonia is on the rise 💪

Syngas Production Cost Analysis 2024: Industry Trends and Profit Analysis The #syngas market is largely propelled by its widespread adoption as a feedstock for the production of various #fuels, including synthetic natural #gas (SNG), #hydrogen, and liquid fuels, such as #methanol and synthetic #diesel. Additionally, this gas is increasingly important for diversifying energy sources and reducing the reliance on conventional fossil fuels, which is augmenting the market growth further. For instance, Air Products was awarded a long-term onsite contract to supply syngas to Jiutai New Material Co. Ltd for its high-value mono-ethylene glycol project in Hohhot, China. The facility/plant was designed to produce over 500,000 Nm3/hr of syngas, comprising five gasifiers, two approximately 100,000 Nm3/hr air separation units (ASU) with syngas purification and processing, and associated infrastructure and utilities. CPCL has three steam methane reformers with a combined capacity of generating 98 KTPA of hydrogen. For each tonne of hydrogen produced, it is estimated that around 9 to 12 tons of CO2 is generated. CPCL is now looking for options to trap this CO2 and market it as a product for downstream industries that may process it further or utilise the CO2 as such. Providing an update on the 9 MMTPA refinery project at Cauvery Basin Refinery, Nagapattinam, CPCL has got the required additional 600-odd acres of the land from the district administration. With this, it is now in possession of 1,200 acres for the proposed project, which is being implemented through a JV in which IndianOil and CPCL will together hold 50 per cent of the equity stake (25 per cent each) and the balance 50 per cent stake would be held by other financial/strategic investors, to be identified at a later stage. #update #news #cpcl #petroleum #oilandgas

Despite our best efforts, even the lowest carbon intensity processes need tight control to remain effective. In the upgrading of #biogas to #rng, every method leaves a percentage of methane in the off gas; referred to as the methane slip. To fully understand the greenhouse gas reduction capabilities of RNG production, we need to measure this slip from the upgrading unit. With in-situ measurement of CH4 and CO2 the off-gas stream, operators can account for and manage the methane slip, for both efficiency and reporting purposes in real time. In 2024, California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (#LCFS) is poised to undergo significant changes, which are anticipated to elevate the price of LCFS credits in the long term by increasing #carbon intensity reduction targets. The California Air Resources Board (#CARB), the program’s regulatory body, released their Standardized Regulatory Impact Assessment (#SRIA) in September of 2023 which assesses the economic impacts of their developing LCFS update proposal.
