The origin of "djunta-mon" is linked to the rural world and is based on an important practice of of reciprocal solidarity between groups of friends, family and neighbors, which drives the creation and realization of collective projects. Accompanying the migration of populations to world, the "djunta-mon" was adapted to meet the city's socio-urban challenges, taking on expression in peripheral neighborhoods such as Cova da Moura and Talude Militar, through joint efforts to clear land, open up streets streets, taking care of neighbors' children or helping to build houses, among other things. The "[...] culture of origin continues to have practical applications in the management of everyday problems in their new places of residence" In VIAJANDO POR PERIFERIAS DIVERSAS E CRIATIVAS DE LISBOA Os bairros da Cova da Moura e do Talude (Katielle Silva, Marcos Correia and Jorge Malheiros) Working as a co-curator for the next Mais uno +1 exhibition, focused on PLACES OF (IM)PERMANENCE The opening will be February 15 at Nova School of Business and Economics Library, at 18h00 The photo is by Nicole Sánchez. It was not taken somewhere in Cape Verde. It was taken at bairro do Talude, a 10 minute car drive from Parque Das Nações, Lisbon. If you zoom in you can see Ponte Vasco da Gama in the landscape. Which other worlds are contained in our city? How well do we know them? And what are we missing out?
