At the National Annual Meeting on Tuesday, May 7, I announced the Boy Scouts of America organization will be changing its name to Scouting America. This rebrand will officially take effect on February 8, 2025, the organization’s 115th birthday. This announcement is the first in a series of national campaigns that will reintroduce America to Scouting and reinvite youth, families, businesses, and the nation to join and support the Scouting movement. Here are three things you should know: What’s Changing and Not Changing: Our dedication to fostering belonging and empowering individuals from all backgrounds will continue to guide everything we do. While our name is changing – our strategy, offerings and commitment to you remain steadfast. As a valued member of the Scouting community, we want to assure you this new name will not change the values or mission our organization has been instilling in young people for more than a century. We believe our new name will allow us to connect with more youth and we look forward to your continued support and participation. Why We’re Rebranding: While our business has continued to transform to deliver greater value to our members, families, volunteers, and others – our name has not evolved at the same pace. For example, we recently celebrated the 5-year anniversary of welcoming girls into the Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA programs – and yet our name doesn’t reflect that. This decision to rebrand not only reinforces our commitment to serving communities of all backgrounds, but it also more accurately reflects the work we’ve been doing for years. Our new name is representative of who we are today and the path we want to charter moving forward. What’s Next for Scouting America: As we embark on this journey together, let us remember the profound impact that Scouting has had on countless lives over the past century. Let us celebrate our present achievements and the remarkable individuals who make our movement thrive. And let us look to the future with optimism and determination, knowing that the best is yet to come. This is simply the announcement. Watch for more exciting details in the coming weeks and months as we begin Scouting America. Thank you, for your continued support of and dedication to our organization. We recognize your effort, we appreciate the work you do, and we’re excited to embark on this new chapter with your support. Yours in Scouting, Roger Krone Chief Scout Executive President & CEO Scouting America

Exploring the Impact of Pay-to-Play Models in the USA ⚽ ❌ Soccer transcends mere sport; it embodies empowerment, unity, and community. When confronted with the challenges confronting Sheriffs FC, a local Bay Area club, I felt compelled to act. Sheriffs FC, a beacon for aspiring young talents in the Bay Area, found themselves grappling with the loss of funding and sponsorships. As a Free-to-Play club, their mission was clear: providing top-tier coaching to youngsters from economically challenged backgrounds who couldn't afford the conventional pay-to-play model. At DivineTime Agency, despite our modest size, we're driven by a commitment to enriching communities. In a bid to support Sheriffs FC we're extending five tickets to our fantasy experience, aiming to empower the young girls of Sheriffs FC and contribute positively to their journey. What is your opinion on the pay to play model in the USA? Let's talk ⤵ Glenn Van Straatum David Ricca

Director IT Analysis & Training. UK Conservative Councillor Swindon & SA Democratic Alliance Abroad UK & Teacher/Director &⚽️ Football Community Activist My views 🇬🇧🇿🇦🇮🇳
From my home to yours. A Merry Christmas Season 2023 🎄 May all be well for New Year 2024 ✨️ Through the tough times, horrible times, bad times, good times, we celebrate a greater teacher that reminds us of our humanity for all time, born in utter simplicity, shared in our common humanity, for the return to forever values for eternity 🌟 Let the Christmas lights light up the nights & the Christmas spirit days carry you home. Update: We are approaching & working with STFC Foundation Park, Supermarines, MP Michelle Donelan teams & SSPC South Swindon Parish Council teams and FA Swindon Wiltshire IAG teams, South African & Netherlands & Indian & UK grassroots football, to help develop football pitches especially for underrepresented groups. Could you help by emailing answers & feedback to Chairperson FA Swindon Wiltshire IAG ⚽️ & STFC Board Member bazil.solomon@gmail.com & team. What do you, children, youth & elderly need to make sports facilities in for example Old Town, Wichelstowe, Parks, Liden, Eldene, Nythe, Buckhurst Field, Swindon & Chippenham areas feel safe and inclusive for all Swindon groups. Do you typically have low physical activity and sport participation rates? Are you from underrepresented groups like women/girls, ethnic minorities, elderly, deprived communities, people with disabilities or long-term health conditions. How far do you have to travel to use sports facilities due to a limited amount and booking days and times? What items would a bigger Playzone need to include to meet your requirements? What local clubs and organisations would book these facilities regularly? What is required to ensure these sports facilities in for example the Parks Buckhurst Field area will be accessible especially to under-represented communities? What sports facilities would you like to have in for example a Parks Buckhurst Playzone alongside a football pitch?

Friends of the Children moves mentorship beyond the volunteer realm, allowing us to make a long-term commitment to youth and their families. What does that feel like in practice? Watch youth, their families, and their Friends describe it -- and try to count how many times they say words like "fun" "good" "support" "progress" and "love": https://lnkd.in/eiSEuZKe #FriendsUtah #OneChildOneFriend #PutChildrenFirst #FriendsoftheChildren #MentoringMatters #MentorsMatter

Celebrating today (and everyday) in Movimento Bloom the Power of Play #internationaldayofplay ⚠️Play is undervalued and trivialised. Our education systems were designed in ways now understood to go against the grain of how children develop. Research shows play that is child-centred learning inspires learning, and children’s motivation- to-learn, much more effectively than teacher-centred instructional learning. ⚠️Opportunities for play are being squeezed out of childhood. Research shows children are enjoying much less child-led, free play outdoors then their parents did as children.Children today are 62% less likely to play out than baby boomer grandparents. ⚠️Our education systems were designed in ways now understood to go against the grain of how children develop. Tuesday’s first-ever International Day of Play is an opportunity to celebrate the power of play. It is a reminder that playtime isn’t just fun, but essential for children’s development & well-being. Today and always, we must ensure every child can fully exercise their right to play. More from UNICEF: https://lnkd.in/erjkf4Na

What have you bought recently for $25? A nice lunch? A gadget (or in my case organization things I've seen on Instagram) from Amazon? Or the newest skincare product (another weakness of mine)? For the same price, you can invest in a Girl Scout's journey toward self-discovery. An investment of $25 is an investment in a girl to explore, make friends, and try new things. Redirect that $25 to a girl who could TRULY change her life with a Girl Scout membership. #girlscouts #investingirls
Tomorrow is Girl Scout Giving Day, a single day where we are calling on our supporters to help make more Girl Scout programming happen for girls in the greater Atlanta area! We need your support to provide “s’more” amazing memories for Girl Scouts. Just $25 can help cover the cost of a Girl Scout membership and provide endless opportunities for a girl to explore her interests and develop valuable skills. Learn more about Girl Scouts Giving Day and how you can make an impact: https://lnkd.in/g7PMZ--M

'First established in 2014 in the San Francisco Bay Area, #RadicalMonarchs is a #troop for #BlackandBrowngirls—as well as children who identify as nonbinary—from 8 to 11 years old. Its mission is to teach children to "advocate for themselves and their #communities and make the world a more just and joyful place.” There are 104 kids enrolled in cities across the US, including Denver, Minneapolis and Washington. Just as in #GirlScouts, Radical Monarch troop members earn badges to show they’ve mastered specific #skills. But these aren’t your typical certifications for first aid or painting. The first, called Radical Roots, requires delving into #history. For the troop in Richmond, California, this could mean a stop at Rosie the Riveter National Historical Park to learn how Black women helped the cause in World War II. In Minneapolis, they learn about Native environmentalist Winona LaDuke, who in 1985 helped form the Indigenous Women’s Network whose members focus on #empowering themselves and others in society. Other badges teach #consent, #selfdefense and #respect for those who are plus-size or disabled. It takes four sessions or troop meetings to earn a #badge, and scouts must attend 90% of the related #workshops or #field trips. Each badge takes three months to earn; the goal is to earn three per year. There’s time for fun, too, whether it entails camping trips or making s’mores and slime. “There’s no cookie baking like GSA, but play is a big part of our work,” says Anayvette Martinez, co-founder of the group. “At the end of the day, these are children. We’re not just talking about social justice stuff all the time.” Hollinquest says the group tries to emphasize the #positive. “It can be really overwhelming if you just focus on what’s wrong—and what’s different about us is we’re very solution-oriented, very much steeped in hope. We study the wins a lot.”' What a great initiative! #youthorganization #activism #girls
