Why? St. Patrickโs Day is an interesting holiday. Itโs the one time of year we find ourselves all in one color (and not supporting a sporting event), eating the same foods, and singing the same songs. For one day, we decide to stretch ourselves and adopt a culture. Iโve been reflecting on this idea. It prompts a deeper consideration of the values and experiences that divide us and connect us. And itโs a reflection of our ability to stretch ourselves to reach a common goal. What are your thoughts on this? I would love to hear them. #StPatricksDay #TeamBuilding #HRInsights

Happy #marchmadness to everyone who celebrates ๐ ! Several years ago, I decided to bring the idea of a March Madness tournament into my work life. It was a really fun way to interact with colleagues so it turned into an annual event. Each year, for several weeks, my colleagues and I only talked about one thing at the coffee machine, in passing in the hallway, and at the start and end of meetings. "What place is your bracket in?", โI wish I didnโt pick Duke!โ, and "Can you believe North Carolina blew it?!" were exchanges between sports lovers and sports agnostics alike. I had built a mini-community of people who were looking to connect and have fun together, and it was really rewarding. Annually as March Madness approached, people would start to get excited and ask me whether I was running another tournament. March Madness has brought colleagues into my sphere from departments I never interacted with. People of all backgrounds and experiences at my organization began connecting with me unlike they had before. My work network doubled every time this year as new hires would join the fun and I would get to know them and their stories a little deeper. I recommend you find your version of March Madness. Maybe for you it's a different sporting event that you love. Maybe it's a holiday that is unique to your culture that you want to share. Maybe it's an event you create yourself that involves potluck food, music, trivia, or another game. Leading an experience for your colleagues demonstrates competency, passion, organizational skills, relationship building, and your value of strong culture. By creating the culture you want to have at your organization, you'll be noticed by leadership and peers alike, and you will continue to further differentiate yourself and your talents. Whatโs your version of March Madness?! Share in the comments โฌ๏ธ

We know our candidates inside and outโtheir motivation, accomplishments, and career goals. That's why I can ensure the match between employer and candidate is spot on, considering skills, personality, and workplace vibe.
Did you know March Madness can do more than just keep us glued to our screens? It's a cool way to bring some extra fun into the office and get our teams excited about hanging out together, whether they're in the office or joining remotely. Here's what you can try: โข Set up a spot where everyone can catch the games and cheer together. โข Get everyone into a bracket challenge with some neat prizes or a group cause to support. It's all about mixing a little fun into our workdays and creating those awesome moments that make our jobs enjoyable. Plus, it's a great chance to get to know our co-workers a bit better. Got any other fun ideas or stories about how March Madness is shaking things up at your workplace? Drop them in the comments below! Introducing this week's #WomensWins featuring Rosemarie Draghici and her view on what truly makes a 'win'. She shares: In a world where opening LinkedIn is more anxiety-provoking than inspiring, and comparison is at an all-time high, it becomes all too easy to lose our sense of self-worth and only focus on the "bigger" wins. Realistically, most of our "wins" revolve around getting out of bed on Monday morning to reach that 9 am lecture in rainy Manchester, or even just remembering to eat, get the rest we need, and leave the house. This does not mean that bigger wins should not be celebrated, but rather that we should also celebrate the small things we do every day. Consider the following: even if you stayed in bed, slept for four more hours, remembered to eat at 5 pm, and went back to bed to watch your favorite show -this is as valid as speaking at a massive conference or networking with CEOs. It does not mean this lifestyle is sustainable, but it is okay to take some time off for ourselves without feeling guilty. It's alright to have less going on, and it does not make you any less worthy. You are enough, even if you take a few days, weeks, or months to listen to your body and take care of yourself. Bigger wins might come along the way, but it's the small wins that give us the motivation to keep going. The constant pressure to be productive and the culture of achievement often lead to endless running and wanting more while forgetting to acknowledge both the small and big wins - they all count! Remember, in a world where every victory counts, your worth is never measured by the scale of your achievements. Let's celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, and remember that each step forward is worth celebrating. You are amazing, just as you are ๐ค Join us in sharing your experiences by filling out a Google form https://lnkd.in/dmpZqcdS Let's inspire each other through both small and big wins!

Last week we took time out to celebrate 15 years... We both stepped away from our roles at work, home, and everything in-between to spend 2 days in Bath. No lavish gifts and fuss. But I really enjoyed itโฆfor so many reasons. It gave us the space to: reflect... 5 moves, 3 children, 3 continents connect...regardless of my unwanted cold (hence no photo even taken in Bath) and appreciate...our health, family, careers, and all the small things we often take for granted. Itโs important to celebrate the milestones and big wins, but what about the small stuff in between? And does it need to look like a โbig dealโ? Sometimes itโs a simple thank you or complimentโฆ What might you CELEBRATE this week? About you and / or your team? As we rapidly approach 2024, what and how might you CELEBRATE you and your team NOW to activate and embed more โnaturalโ reflection, connection, & appreciation in the year to come? There are always ups and downs, but itโs a journeyโฆenjoy it.

Director at West Peak. Enhancing performance through people. Follow me for insights about leadership and team performance.
The little things count! Yesterday there was a slight 'hiccup' at West Peak which was quickly sorted, nobody died, and all is now well! But what it showed is that the team are 100% living our values! ๐ฅ Because once the problem got sorted, soon after a bucket of beers arrived at my hotel room and a bunch of flowers at home for my wife from the team! Love that! โค๏ธ Awesome examples of accountability and empathy from Jo Murphy and the team! It's the little things that makes great teams great! ๐ #leadershipdevelopment
