Day 1: Listening "Servant Leadership Principle #1: Listening Listening is the foundation of servant leadership. It involves actively seeking out and considering the input of others, which fosters a culture of trust and collaboration. Example: Howard Schultz, former CEO of Starbucks, exemplified this principle by holding regular open forums where employees could share their ideas and concerns. This practice not only made employees feel valued but also drove innovation within the company. Let’s strive to be leaders who listen! #ServantLeadership #ActiveListening #HowardSchultz" #starbucks #Listening

"Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's amazing what they can accomplish" - Sam Walton Walmart has well over 2 million employees. The founder's philosophy is so critical in laying the foundation of what could be a legacy. Empowered employees with firm self-belief can deliver results beyond expectations. A true leader reinforces this self-belief instead of introducing seeds of self-doubt and mistrust. The compounding effect of all the empowered employees creates a tremendous positive impact for the organization. On the other hand, the compounding effect of an organization full of circumspect employees leaves little to the imagination. Visualize a fraction multiplying itself forever. #leadership #empoweredemployees #people #performance The Curated Circle

Thank you Harvard Business Review for asking my perspective on one of the most important (and hardest) topics of leadership. Staying aligned with your Board, thinking long-term, moving with speed, having clarity, being empathetic, etc. - all easy to say and hard to do. https://lnkd.in/g6dt9jSb

Like Walmart or not, Sam Walton had an outlook that believed people are the most important asset and genuinely cared about people. His simple philosophy was ensuring that if you want the people in the store to look after the customers, the leaders have to make sure they are taking care of the people. Granted, Walmart has grown and our perception may or not be outstanding in this regard but most will never run an organization of this size. The main thing is leaders go out of their way to prioritize their people. The good news is X5 Management has training for that! We’re making a few changes in the warehouse this year and one of them is being more intentional at highlighting and celebrating employees who exemplify our warehouse values. For January, that team member was Alex! In January he really was a valuable team memeber who had his teammates backs and showed them empathy by taking the time to coach them when he saw a mistake. He showed growth in his ability to do his job and work with his supervisor. And he showed ownership over every shipment he pulled and every mistake he made. Around here we like to say that he had EGO (empathy, growth, ownership). #employeeappreciation #employeedevelopment #employeeengagement #empathy #growth #ownership #mvp #employeeofthemonth #leadership #warehousemanagement

"The Green Bay Packers never lost a football game. They just ran out of time." - Vince Lombardi I love this quote by Vince Lombardi, the legendary head coach and GM of the Green Bay Packers. Not only because the Packers are the best (yeah, Cheeseheads!) but it also reminds me that so much in life and business depends on believing in your team. • The first step in successful leadership is believing in your team. • Moving toward a goal requires team members to feel empowered. • Once empowered, people can take command of a situation and be okay with asking questions. • I see all employees as potential leaders and managers. They just need to be given the tools to succeed. #GoPackers #EPM #Empowerment #LeadershipMatters #VinceLombardi
