“Inspired by our shared histories and roots, as well as the new credit union’s vision, our name, Blaze Credit Union, represents what we do for our members: guidance, navigation, and wayfinding. Finding that way forward! Like brightly colored blazes along a tree-lined trail, we’re a partner along their path, showing them the way and giving them the tools to achieve their goals and dreams. Our business is improving lives, and our role is showing our members how to go for it, wherever “it” might be to them. Our brand concept is supported by numerous well-thought-out elements. You’ll notice in our logo, the ‘B’ is carved to show a blazed trail to a destination. Our color palette is full of coppers, golds and greens - colors of money which also reflect regional scenery like raw iron ore, warm sunsets, and the mighty Norway pine, as well as many Midwesterners’ love of the outdoors. And even for more indoors-people who prefer comfy slippers to hiking boots and sheltered skyways to daunting switchbacks, they’re traveling along a trail of their very own: sometimes barreling forward; sometimes moving cautiously. Our tagline, Go for it, is all about action, calling our members and potential members to take bold steps toward their dreams, trusting Blaze to help them get there”. #Blazerproud#whoweare
We're here to help you along the road of life. ✔️ Welcome to Blaze Credit Union!

I would like to voice my concerns with this proposed merger once again... Many of you disagreed with my earlier comment about the proposed merger and indicated how you believed this merger was going to be a good thing for small credit unions. Well, the details on the proposed board members are in and it's not looking good for small or medium-size credit unions. Five (5) of the board seats will go to MULTI-Billion dollar ($2.2 Billion+) credit unions, only 3 seats will be represented by small credit unions, two (2) under $80 Million and one (1) seat for credit unions under $300 Million. To make matters worse, there is no representation for mid-size credit unions ($300 Million+) in this proposed board. So, for those small and mid-size credit union CEOs that said this was going to be good merger because it will increase your representation, I wish you the best of luck with that theory. I am very certain whose interest those multi-billion-dollar credit union CEOs are going to represent within the board and with our politicians. I am also very concerned about the apparent lack of DEI in the proposed board. I truly doubt the makeup of this board is a good representation of the leadership in the credit union industry.
Today, NAFCU and Credit Union National Association have released details of the proposed Transition Board for America’s Credit Unions, including members of the Executive Committee. Brian Schools, current vice chair of the NAFCU Board of Directors and president and CEO of Chartway Credit Union is slated to lead the charge as the association’s first chair should the merger be approved. Lisa Ginter, current chair of the CUNA Board of Directors and CEO of CommunityAmerica Credit Union, is slated to be Transition Board’s vice chair. Someone once said, "Never Forget Where You Came From." Well, back in the day we used call it the "Credit Union Movement." Today, many call us an industry or refer to us as financial services. Back in the day, credit union movement leaders talked about the importance of the credit union philosophy, People Helping People, and how credit unions emerged as an important financial services lifeline for Americans, following the Great Depression which started in 1929. This video was part of my credit union movement education. Perhaps it is a little corny and the black & white imagery might make you think of your grandparents. But I still believe credit unions were created for a noble purpose, to help people of modest means, improve their own financial lives and help our Country grow out of the depths of financial despair. I believe the credit union philosophy remains a critical financial lifeline for Americans, even more so today, as we all head into unknown, unchartered, unprecedented times. Not For Profit, Not For Charity, But for Service. https://lnkd.in/eQcAtaCK

Pres/CEO of Community Spirit Bank & Serving Americas Community Banks as Past Chairman of Independent Community Bankers of America at @ICBA
ICBA and other groups expressed united opposition to efforts by Sens. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) and Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) to attach their ICBA-opposed credit card routing bill to a must-pass appropriations bill. State of Play: Marshall last week pledged to hold up consideration of government funding legislation focused on military construction and veterans affairs if Senate leaders don’t commit to holding a vote on the lawmakers’ Credit Card Competition Act (S. 1838/H.R. 3881). The bill would allow merchants to process credit card transactions based solely on which network offers the lowest cost for them #HandsOffMyRewards This will make big retailers even wealthier at the expense of #MainStreet We must oppose these bills.
