Google's AI-powered weather forecasting model, GraphCast, has shown superior accuracy and speed compared to traditional government models, according to a study published in Science. The model outperformed the renowned European model and displayed enhanced accuracy in day-to-day weather and extreme events like hurricanes. AI will undoubtedly disrupt everything. Google recently announced that it has made significant progress on a machine-based learning and AI approach, called 'GraphCast', to weather forecasting. The results are impressive: ** The forecast is more accurate than the ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) in 90% of all relevant categories such as wind speed, temperature and air pressure. ** The ECMWF is now using Google Graph, experimenting with the new data and incorporating the new technology into it's forecast scenarios. ** You can see a live experiment using "GraphCast" technology on their website (Sources below).
