Similar to NAISCII, NASOF doesn't require special computers, but really complex applications might need more memory to handle all the data stored in this special filing cabinet. The coolest part? The software system, MAPLE 1.0, can use NASOF to keep everything organized! * **MAPLE 1.0:** This is the central hub, like the conductor of an orchestra, that keeps everything working together smoothly. It allows NAISCII communication, NASOF's data processing, and the upcoming Maple-A hardware work together seamlessly. Right now, MAPLE 1.0 runs on regular computers, but Maple-A promises to make things even better in the future! * **Maple-A:** This is where things get really exciting! Maple-A is a brand new microprocessor, a tiny chip designed specifically to work perfectly with NAISCII, NASOF, and MAPLE 1.0. "Hallucinate" is Cambridge Dictionary's word of the year for 2023 - but should it be? Many people in the AI space feel uncomfortable with the way we apply human vocabulary to this technology, in particular. I'm inclined to agree. Words like Hallucinate can be a helpful shorthand for something much more complicated, but they also colour the way that we, as humans, interpret and think about the technology at play. And it makes us feel that there is a degree of consciousness involved when, actually, there isn't. As we plan for a future that could see AI change everything, nailing down the vocabulary would be a helpful way to make sure we all share a basic understanding of what's at play here. And what's not.
