Employers...enough with the ghosting! Don’t leave candidates hanging. Grant them closure. It may not seem like a big deal to you but it is to someone who has been job searching for a while. A clear rejection is better than false hope! This process of job searching can be nerve-wracking and emotionally draining. It's a rollercoaster ride where every 'no' feels like a punch in the gut. Here's my take on how to handle this pivotal moment: Firstly, understand the 'why'. Why has your decision to leave prompted this counter-offer? Is it a knee-jerk reaction to avoid the inconvenience of replacing you, or does it signal genuine value in your contributions? Remember, the factors that drove you to seek a new opportunity likely extend beyond the financial. Consider the culture, growth prospects, and personal fulfillment. Will the counter-offer address these, or is it merely a plaster over deeper issues? Before responding, revisit your career goals. Aligning your decision with your long-term aspirations is key.
