Congratulations to 8 students on becoming the second #WICorrections group to earn their #bachelorsdegree in Biblical Studies with a minor in #Psychology last week! 🎓 Despite challenges including pandemic precautions during the initial year and the program's relocation to Fox Lake Correctional Institution last year, these #graduates persevered and completed all required coursework. The four-year program is delivered at no cost to students or taxpayers, thanks to our valuable partnerships with Trinity International University and the Wisconsin Inmate Education Association, who covers 100% of the #tuition. #reentry #reentrymatters #Wisconsin #corrections #education #collegeeducation #secondchances #college #graduation #collegegraduates #collegegraduation #biblicalstudies #collegegrads

We have also supported the development of literacy in UK prison education. Low literacy can be a result of many challenges experienced by individuals - challenges beyond their control. Having said that we have so many fabulous examples of adults from various ages and backgrounds learning to read and write and so experiencing the joys of reading to grandchildren or completing job applications. #furthereducation #tvet #skills #literacy

Survey Request: College Bridge Programs for Justice Impacted Students Survey As college in prison programs continue to expand, supported by the newly reinstated Federal Pell Grants, the need for college bridge programs has become all the more urgent. Formal agreements with higher education institutions may be needed to evaluate the effectiveness of the College Bridge program on long-term student outcomes. In order to get a better understanding of the need for College Bridge Programs that help incarcerated people acquire the writing, critical thinking and math skills required to access Pell funded higher education programs, a field survey to assess the needs of both the incarcerated population and the colleges is necessary. Please take the short survey (deadline 8/31/23): https://lnkd.in/exCsRKUJ #PrisonLiteracy #AdultEdu #BridgePrograms #Survey Coalition on Adult Basic Education Danielle Cox, M.Ed.
