We recently had the pleasure of being an exhibitor at Winchester Town Day! We distributed free bok choy from New Entry Sustainable Farmer's Market and discussed healthy eating education from our Nutrition team. Thank you to our staff that tabled at the event, and to Mary Ellen Armstrong, ED Nurse Shift Leader & Ellen Hamilton, Nurse Manager, who were both #WinchesterHospitalBaby's as well! We had a great day out in the community and look forward to next year!

Enhancing research innovation and impacting health equity in Northeast Ohio and beyond #CTSAProgram @nih-ncats
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "improving access to nutritious food supports overall health, reduces chronic diseases, and helps people avoid unnecessary health care. That's why food and nutrition security is one of the key social determinants of health." "That really kind of started me on this path to examine, well why? What are the reasons behind this? Why are these inequities happening?" - Celina Cunanan, MSN, APRN-CNM, FACNM 📌 Read the article that highlights University Hospitals' Food for Life program in full by clicking the link below.

#NEWS on the NYC Health + Hospitals Plant-Based Meal Initiative: There's a reason the largest public healthcare system in the country is providing plant-based meals to their patients... it's the most sustainable, economical option. They have successfully reduced their carbon emissions with a simple yet impactful change: adding more vegetables to their menu. Not only does the hospital share new information on their greenhouse gas emissions in their latest update, but the cost of each plate has significantly decreased since nixing animal products. Why do plant-based foods save greenhouse gas emissions? ✨Get the free class here: https://lnkd.in/ehRZp6Th If you've been struggling with your weight, here's why... Certain aspects of your job in healthcare can lead to weight gain, despite you knowing what healthy foods are and aren't. The stress, jam-packed schedule, eating at any opportunity, drug rep lunches, food in the nurse's lounge, you name it. But the answer isn't just changing what or how much you eat first, it's addressing WHY you're eating. When you address why FIRST, then it's way easier to naturally improve how much and what you're eating. This class helps you do that. #womeninhealthcare #loseweightsimply #loseweight #eatinghabits #physicianassistant #registerednurse #physician #womeninmedicine #nursepractitioner
