In a revolutionary approach, researchers at the University of Utah Health are seeing if an 8-week program based on Positive Psychology can improve the mood and well-being of people who have had a stroke and their caregivers. In a new clinical trial involving a person who has had a stroke and their spouse or care partner, they focus not on pathology but on helping couples learn and practice goal setting, communication strategies, expressing gratitude, fostering connections, etc. Activities include writing thank-you notes, reflecting on good times, etc. Read more about the study here: https://lnkd.in/gc9YpEVh

NADD’s 41st Annual Conference in Tempe, AZ, October 7-9, 2024 will include Inequities and Outcomes Among People with Dual Diagnosis. This presentation will share results of an analysis of data from the 2022-2023 National Core Indicators-IDD In-Person Survey of race and ethnic disparities in assessment and diagnosis among individuals with IDD who have a Mental Health Condition diagnosis or who experience behavior challenges, controlling for other relevant personal and demographic characteristics such as living arrangement, state of residence, level of disability and more.
