It is no secret the business of health care is experiencing one of its most tumultuous times in history. There is no shortage of reports on the challenging financial health care marketplace. This creates complexities for the C-Suite, challenging them to successfully operate and navigate through the tumult while also staying true to their organizations’ missions, values and visions. In times of uncertainty and financial challenges, campaigns are a crucial lifeline for organizations seeking to sustain their missions and serve their communities’ health needs. These times also create challenges in building and launching large-scale philanthropy efforts. Accordant’s Wave Campaign™ model was developed during less turbulent times; yet, has the adaptability, innovation and momentum generation needed to navigate stormy weather. This model is case-driven, clinician-partnered, organization-aligned and passion-fueled to meet and exceed donor needs. Wave campaigning is structured to ensure sustained philanthropy. When recruiting and working with a volunteer board, whether a formal foundation board of trustees or an informal philanthropy council, roles and responsibilities are often glossed over or poorly understood. Ensuring your board is engaged and leveraging their strengths and preferences can be a difficult and time-intensive task. Just getting to know your board members well enough to understand how they can best be utilized to advance your mission can take months and sometime years. To help you shorten this process and improve the board experience, you need to quickly understand each member’s preferences and skill set. Read more from Accordant's Cindy Reynolds, CFRE, on the importance of defining board member roles: https://ow.ly/p0pv50QBMl0 Learn how Accordant can help your health care organization elevate board governance to advance your mission: https://ow.ly/mh7O50QBMkZ #healthcare #philanthropy #boardengagement #boardgovernance

Trust is at an all-time low in our country. Events over the past few years have helped to create this decline and the trend is one all of us in health care philanthropy should be addressing, as health care is being directly impacted. A lack of trust prevents patients from seeking care and believing when they do seek care they are receiving the best possible. A lack of trust prevents people from investing in their hospitals for fear their money won’t be used wisely. A lack of trust prevents neighbors from linking arms together to support their communities and effect change for the better. Is it possible for those of us in philanthropy to combat this growing trend of distrust and move the needle to a more positive state? The answer is yes, and it starts with a core tenet of our profession: relationship building. Accordant President and Principal Consultant Pamela Ronka Maroulis, CFRE presents some alarming statistics on the decline in trust in Part 1 of her two-part series. Check out our latest eNews. Grateful engagement (formerly known as the “grateful patient program”) is a strategy that guides health care organizations to proactively engage grateful patients and families in sharing and celebrating stories of gratitude. Grateful patient engagement also allows patients and families to express their gratitude for care through philanthropy. Grateful engagement is comprehensive, multi-faceted and touches nearly every aspect of the health care organization. Advancing a grateful engagement strategy can become overwhelming and resource-heavy without steadfast focus on strategic decision-making. Learn more about launching or fine-tuning your grateful engagement strategy from Accordant's Erin M.
