When did you last share your company or team vision? If it was more than a month ago, listen up: Perhaps you need to focus on communicating your vision. I’ve often seen company strategy locked away behind those who need to know. With short presentations quarter to give an update. But putting yourself on the other side of those updates, it’s pretty clear to see why people aren’t getting it. Sharing your vision, including others in the conversations, is powerful on so many levels. It helps you understand if it’s clear and well thought out. If you end up with loads of questions, perhaps it needs to be clearer. It helps you win fans who can then get excited to do it. People care about what they’re doing at work. So if it looks like the next couple of years might be exciting, and have a clear plan, then they might stick around for it! It gives a greater meaning to everyone’s role in the team. In times of uncertainly, it’s so important to give security through a direction of travel, and how each person has particular roles to play in that. On the flip side, if the direction you’re going in isn’t aligned to an individual for any reason, at least it’s clear and they have plenty of time to make a plan that works for them and for you. So how could you go about sharing that vision more often? I’m curious to hear your ideas.

Today I’m thinking about the differences between having a strategy…. And having a plan…. And how so often i see young marketers putting together plans without understanding strategy, and how important it is to cement a plan against a larger strategy with clear business objectives and goals. How do you help members of your team understand the difference?

Helping growth SME's go from overlooked to overbooked by plugging the gaps in their marketing strategy & develop their in-house Marketing Execs | Marketing Strategist | Accredited Mentor | Book a Free Discovery Call
💯 the strategy comes first! It’s the clear roadmap to achieving your goals over a set period of time with specific KPIs to hit along the way. The creative is the vehicle you choose to get there 🛣️🏎️ I regularly create 12 month Marketing Strategies for clients, broken down by Quarter and then into specific monthly actions that the client can work through to help them achieve their goals in a step-by-step guide. Then we review them every month and every quarter to check we’re on track, and adjust if needed. Strategies shouldn’t be complicated, boring or a 90 page document you dread to read 😴 I make it fun and easy then you’re more likely to do it and hit your goals 🤩🙌 Rachelle #marketingstrategy #marketingmentor
This is the BEST description I’ve heard on the distinction between strategy and creative. These two things are sometimes misunderstood, and often conflated. Bravo Lucas Rodríguez 👇
