As #COP28 concludes in Dubai, Habitat for Humanity continues to urge stakeholders to incorporate adequate housing into responses to climate action and preparation in three ways to ensure people affected most by climate change are at the center of efforts. 1️⃣ Adaptation for the most vulnerable: Governments at all levels must prioritize adaptation actions that directly address the needs of the most vulnerable communities, especially those living in informal settlements, while protecting ecosystems. 2️⃣ Mitigation that is affordable: Mitigation efforts in the housing sector must ensure affordability and accessibility particularly in rapidly urbanizing cities around the world. 3️⃣ Transformation of informal settlements: Leverage the transformation of informal settlements as a strategy for achieving high-impact climate actions with adaptation-mitigation linkages and community co-benefits.

The United Nations climate change summit, #COP28 has officially begun in #Dubai, UAE and will take part from 30 Nov 30 to 12 Dec. Key focuses include reducing fossil fuels and #carbonemissions, and international funding for #climatechange adaptation. The #cop28uae summit will see the review of countries progress towards the #ParisAgreement. COP28 holds significance in light of record-high greenhouse gases and the urgent need to meet the 1.5°C target set by the Paris Agreement.
